What would peoples thoughts be on an NZ team in SOO? Like in the super league. Or would it be almost filled with Warriors players like WA was with West Coast players.
What about introducing another state?Plenty of players from multiple clubs would be eligible to play for a NZ team.
But it will never happen for 3 reasons.
Firstly, NZ is a national side not a state side, and their current national side is representing the country really well in internationals and wouldn't make sense playing in both SOO and International tests.
Secondly, State of Origin is NSW vs Qld and that is all it should ever be.
Thirdly, rugby league will never again repeat the horrible mistakes of Super League.
Why?What about introducing another state?
For something new, boost State of Origin in other states. They already play games down here in Melbourne. Why?
WA is the 3rd best rugby league state and our best team would be slaughtered by the NSW 3rd choice side. What about introducing another state?
There are only two teams in state of origin and it will stay like that. And that Melbourne idea is all $$$$$$$$ nothing else. For something new, boost State of Origin in other states. They already play games down here in Melbourne.

I completely agree with you, but for discussions sake, what would stop the NRL from trying an "Allies" style side?Exactly right, there are not enough out of NSW and Qld players to form a strong enough team to even try and challenge NSW and Qld. And as much as I hate games in Melbourne it is done purely for the money, no matter how much they spin it as expanding the game.
SoO will always be NSW vs Qld.

Are there even 17 players in the NRL from states other than NSW or QLD?
