The only place the "news" was reported was on 5AA - and any of you who have listened to 5AA while over here to watch a game can attest to how much of a quality station they really are - where their regular deep throat rumour man 'Ralph' told a fanciful tale of Walker and all of the young players being tired of Craig and wanting out.

Nevermind the fact that every single one of his rumours turns out to be wrong, save for the ones he gets from the news services and gives to the ignorant bumpkins on 5AA half an hour later as a prediction, every drama queen on the Crows board disappointed with the season latched onto it as some sort of gospel truth, and restarted their campaign to sack all of the coaching staff and everyone on the list over the age of 24.

Cue the people chiming in with the startling revelation that team X (Carlton in this instance), quite obviously and publicly in search of a KPF to pick up in trade week, is interested in the good young prospect, and off the wagon races...

Simple facts, Walker isn't leaving, Gibbs isn't leaving, and there's little more to talk about.

It's our rumour thread, we can talk about any rumour we want. Whether it is true or not doesn't matter, we know it's not likely that he will leave.

Why do people care if we are offering him too much money?
It ain't coming from your pocket and I'm sure the club has learnt to NOT breach salary cap.
If we have to offer Walker a massive pay increase to get him down then do it. Our list improves and we are a greater chance of a flag.
 
I dont think I could follow AFL until Walker was retired in 10 years time, if Walker was to leave us. :(

Walker is a very special player, he is an elite full forward being played out of position due to Tippett claiming the FF spot first.

He is also very lazy, which Neil Craig despises. He is a passionate life supporter of the crows so it would take alot more than a few extra dollars and an argument with Craig to move him to Victoria.
 
If Walker did become available he must be our no.1 target.

We all know our back half is where we need that extra big man. But we have that in Jarrad Waite. Walker and Hendo would be one of the better young CHF/FF combos going around. Mixed with our small forwards which are already one of the best units and all of a sudden we have a potentially brilliant forward line set up for 10 years.

We can then strongly focus on our back half for 2-3 years at the draft.

However, there are hundreds of these rumours each year that never eventuate. And right now, I think this is one of those.
 
My dad played over 200 games for the club and he says he heard we're bringing back the Blue Birds and this girl will be the star. Remember, this is coming from club legends.

Potential star....No doubt extra coin will influence decision making. However lets not rule out, facilities, training ground, and crowd attendance...

Plenty of cash spare in the salary cap for a young guy like Taylor Walker. He's younger, faster, more athletic and more skilful than Roughead. Needs to seriously improve his work ethic but has all the talent to become a big star. There's some good footage on youtube of the goals he's kicked.

Ever heard of the saying 'the club is bigger then the individual' ??
Compared to what Fev meant to us, Walker is a p*ss in the ocean, and a mere 10 months after his sacking, you dont see many people around here lamenting Fev's loss anymore..
How about you Adelaide bumpkins stop building up every young forward with potential that comes your way as 'The next Modra' and start showing some support to the team as a whole.

Knights is leaning towards staying, very loyal bloke, hates Adelaide (the city) but loves the footy club and his teamates.

As for Walker, after watching the crows the last two weeks its fair to say he doesnt really fit there strutures all that well. The number of times him and Tippett fly for the same ball is worrying. Tippett dominated without him on sunday.

Make it happen i say.

Actually, Id give you Jacobs and our 1st rounder.

Better than what you would be getting from the GC.

Id also be happy to put Gibbs on the table, but Id expect Adelaide to throw in something extra. Such as Walker plus your first rounder (pick 14 in a weak draft) in exchange for our Gibbs and our second rounder as a hypothetical. Taylor is a good young player, but he doesn't come close to equalling Gibbs (in footballing ability, Marketability, and addressing a key deficiency in your side with McLeod retiring soon and Boak leaving).

Gibbs would be a good chance to earn a Brownlow playing for Adelaide. Would probably captain the side in a few years time.

If Gibbs was available in this Draft, he'd go around pick 1-2 (Swallow being his only real competition). Add the fact we've pumped over 50 games into him, and he polled 15 Brownlow votes last year in a side with Judd and Murphy drawing over 30 between them.

Walker and pick 14(ish) for pick (1-2) and pick 36ish is more than a fair trade.

As a third option, id consider packaging Russell up in a deal. Adelaide born, seasoned but still young, starting to string together some fantastic games, another former 1st round draft pick. Would do well in Craigs rebounding game plan.
