It's an okay article IMO, vaguely interesting. Heavily biased and skewed for the guardian target audience (i.e. tabloids persecuted women, not men). Doesn't change the fact that all the English MSM is part of that unfunny-but-perceived-as funny-because-we're-laughing-at-each-other's-banter luvvy culture, all support that weird British fascination with ugly posh nonces with bad teeth, not just Murdoch.Good article here on the tabloids and lad culture in the 90's and beyond.
"The nasty noughties: Russell Brand and the era of sadistic tabloid misogyny
At the turn of the century, the tabloid press was untouchable – and women in the public eye faced ceaseless persecution. We are still grappling with the fallout today."
Murdoch is the misogynist enabler my friend.

I don't think the Guardian protects rapists mate. Murdoch is the evil force in the world. It's an okay article IMO, vaguely interesting. Doesn't change the likelihood that if Murdoch journos knew, then Guardian journos knew - I believe plenty of people in the MSM knew, look at the stories about groups of women warning each other about him.
Come on, that doesn't stand up to any logic. They probably didn't know. They weren't providing cars to pick up a 16yo like the BBC did. He was viewed as a sexually liberated lefty rock star like a Mick Jagger or Michael Hutchence.
I think the TV people knew the dirt.
So what are you asserting here? That every media organisation new he was a rapist and wrote positve stories on him anyway?Come on, that doesn't stand up to any logic.

2004 - 2021. If they didn't know what Brand is, what does that tell you about their abilities? As far as I can tell it was an 'open secret'. Can't see how anybody part of or connected to the industry wouldn't have heard the rumours. What makes you think they knew about his crimes? Any recent articles there ?
like i said he liked MSM when they promoted his shows and wrote fluff pieces, but now its a conspiracy that they're reporting on the allegations apparently2004 - 2021. Guardian writers and editors are either stupid and incompetent, or they knew and promoted him anyway (I believe the latter is far more likely).
As one author stated in the last couple of days, he is MSM. Apparently he was making a movie last year, was also in a Minions movie.like i said he liked MSM when they promoted his shows and wrote fluff pieces, but now its a conspiracy that they're reporting on the allegations apparently
Russell Brand's gleeful tale of drugs and debauchery in My Booky Wook puts most other celebrity memoirs to shame...
That if the right-wing media knew more, as you asserted, then The Guardian would have known as well, or otherwise they both didn't know. It doesn't make sense otherwise. So what are you asserting here? That every media organisation new he was a rapist and wrote positve stories on him anyway?
I don't think it was an open secret until Katherine Ryan's interview with Loius Theroux about 18 months ago or whenever it was, that's when I found out.2004 - 2021. And seperate to that, that The Guardian and some of their writers put their objectivity and good sense to one side by turning a blind eye to his problematic reputation as it was, and giving him a platform in the run up to the 2015 UK Election.
Quite literally, a platform
Spare me your strawman old boy.I asserted that the TV shows he worked for definately knew something and the scummy Sun Murdoch press may have known something since they wete tapping everyone's phones.
It was the TV shows who did nothing was my point.
Also, as an aside, we also know that all Murdoch press is full of scum, racist, climate denying reporting.
If you want to defend Murdoch that's up to you.
Stop accusing a fact based news outlet for covering up sexual assaultSpare me your strawman old boy.
The Guardian took someone with a known problem with women, put him on a pedestal, boosted his profile, turns out he's a rapist. Well done them.Stop accusing a fact based news outlet for covering up sexual assault
It wasn't a known problem with women Did you know 2 years ago that he was a predator? The Guardian took someone with a known problem with women, put him on a pedestal, boosted his profile, turns out he's a rapist. Well done them.
Why didn't Murdoch drop the hammer on him when he was the darling of the left?
It wasn't a known problem with women Did you know 2 years ago that he was a predator?
Of course it was. More red flags than a Soviet May Day parade. It wasn't a known problem with women Did you know 2 years ago that he was a predator?
I didn't know but I'm not a professional comic or somebody in England writing about them, or otherwise in the industry over there. One of the groups warning women about him and others has been running since 2018:It wasn't a known problem with women Did you know 2 years ago that he was a predator?
So you knew did you?Of course it was. More red flags than a Soviet May Day parade.
You think the only person who knew he had a problem with women was Dannii Minogue?
It has been an open secret within the comedy industry by the sounds of it. Like I say , I wised up to it after Katherine Ryan's interview.I didn't know but I'm not a professional comic or somebody in England writing about them, or otherwise in the industry over there. Comedy's MeToo moment? Russell Brand's behaviour was 'open secret'
I don't know about you but I find it impossible to believe that people in London working in the industry, including journalists, wouldn't have known he and others are predators to avoid.
