Trust me on this:

If you have a girl that you like, take her to the Queen Vic market. Take her past the place that sells those gems, and ask her which she likes most. Then somehow make an excuse, for example say that you're going to the toilet or something. Instead buy her one of those small necklaces with a gem on it. It looks good on everyone, and they'll love it for the sentiment value and it also shows that you listen to them and remember what they say.
