I get it 100%. I'm 50 now. So the years between 1982-2017 were long indeed. You conditioned yourself to failure after a while, and expected it to fall apart.

Even in the 17 GF, when we led at half time, all I could think about was how we'd stuff it up. You watch the game back we were NEVER losing.

Fast fwd to the 19 GF, I looked at a mate after about 30 seconds and said, relax, we're good, we'll have some fun today.




If you win, and I hope for all Dees supporters you do, when you watch it back, you'll have the same feeling. Why was I worried?

I've got a Richmond mate who thought the same way in 2017. No matter how much they looked like a premiership side, and they really did look good in the lead up to the finals, he didn't give them a chance and expected them to fall apart.

I was at the Furies when they won and was really happy for my teammates to get the premiership.

I hope the same thing happens for the Melbourne supporters while I'm at the Demons.

Ironically, if the Dees win this year, the Bombers will be the only SFA club with an AFL connection that hasn't won an AFL premiership when I've played there.

I was thinking about joining the Roys at some time in the future, but should probably rule them out now. There's nothing I can do to help them.
