The story so far
The Roys were minor premiers with an impressive 9-3 record, are on a 7 game winning streak and finished the home and away with a Sweet best percentage of 115.65. In the qualifying final the Roys destroyed the Royals by 36 points with 37 scoring shots. The reigning premiers are in great shape.
The Gumbies spent much of the season in the pole position but lost 3 of their last 4 home away games to finish third with a 7-5 record. However they still had a Sweet second best percentage of 113.32 so not much between the two teams. After losing a tight qualifying final to the Bombers, the Gumbies bounced back beating the OOBs in another thriller. Winning a final will give them a burst of confidence.
Heroes
Being the top two teams we can expect a ripping contest with both teams having their share of players in top form. However prelims have so much at stake. There is no tomorrow. Who will stand up and who will falter under the heat? It isn't always the star players throughout the season. Sometimes dear sim has other ideas. Who will be the heroes?
Roys
Wosh had a huge off season and dropped 20 centimetres. The diminutive rover is having a stunning season owning the midfield and is dangerous going forward kicking 11 goals. The qumps adore her speed and silky fur too as she closes in on 50 frees for for the season (only 11 against).
Allikat on the wing is such a wonderful thing! Sure she wins more qooty than most, but importantly she tackles to hurt the opposition with 18 frees against that makes her teammates taller (not you Wosh).
Zevon home and away season could be described as serviceable. For a team that dominated he really should have been challenging for the Fred. That changed in the qualifying final where he ripped the Royals a new one slamming through 7 goals and hit up the lovely lady behind the goals. Look out Gumbies - don't mess with the Zevon!
Gumbies
Brick Loosener has enjoyed a fantastic season owning his wing and also doesn't mind kicking a long goal kicking an accurate 11.4 during the season and was one of the best in the qualifying final.
Falconista has the big job on Zevon and he'll be licking his chops to take another scalp after sending bonz to confession last week. No doubt will be chirping away at Zev about the greyhounds to put him off his game.
Dory_77 the Gumbie full forward was the difference in a tight semi final with 4 goals. One senses he is building towards a big bag as he gets accustomed to playing the key forward role. When asked about his battle with Mooch, Dory said “Wow. I wish I could speak whale.”
