what are your opinions flying joey, roodog, and kingneptune only thx on big hugh minson. Obviously he has a great potential to develope, will be going to state screening, but i have heard rumours that clubs might not take him this year and let him develope in norwood seniors next year and then take him. In my opinion he would be a great investment to take this year and therefore kill out the competition from other clubs. (his brother got taken straight out of school, although he was captain and best players of 1sts)

Any thoughts?

Ive seen him play 4 times this year, everytime i was very impressed. I think he will end up on a rookie list(providing he is not to young) at the end of the year. Is stil very raw body wise and has a lot of development left in him, his tap work and work around the ground is good, good enough to get drafted but if someone is willing to put him straight on the senior list is another thing. I dont think he would paly seniors out at norwood next year because he wold be competing with some decent ruckman, would probably play 19s and ressies next year. You dont happen to know his date of birth do you Straylan?

maybe about the selection, its just my opinion im not sold on him yet that he will make it. Well the rookie list option is just because they dont think he will get drafted, but may still make it and be given a chance via the rookie list which would give him more time to develop especially if he goes interstate. Draft camp is a good indicator but there are about 70 going, normally only 45-50 of those get drafted though, you have to remember recycled players and players from state screenings as well... only time will tell if he gets drafted, i hope he does in a ll seriousness but like i said im just not sold on him.

i dont think you know what your on about. the rookie draft is after the national draft.

how can they "not think hell get drafted." when the draft has already been. they would already know he has or hasnt been drafted by then. :)

im almost sure that he is draftable this season as a bottom age player. He has played a 17s game this year and so therefore he must be born in 88', as he is year 12 he would therefore be quite early on in 88' and would pass the april 30 cut-off (its april 30th isnt it?)

i was responding to flying joey talking about people saying he would only get rookie listed... the they was reffering to those people...

if he doesnt get drafted he cant be rookied then... you must be 18 before Jan 1 06 to go on a rookie list so if hes not drafted he will spend the year developing at norwood.

roo dog, minson experienced a bad knee injury that kept him from playing football in yr 10 and 11, but has definately got his confidence back this year. do you think that teams will be reluctant to pick him up due to his vulnerable knee??

Heres the brief summary that the 1st coach printed before intercol:

Hugh Minson 1st Intercol. 201cm, 85kg. He has made the most of his first injury free season in a long time. There has been considerable growth in his confidence, knowledge and skills of the game

Definately looks a good sort to me. The only querry i would have on him is is injury riddled past. Do you think clubs would be willing to take such a gamble on a player who has had such terrible injuries at such a young age? Having said that. good luck to him on hopefully an AFL career. I'm sure with a few pre seasons at an AFL club he could really mature and get his body right.

dont think ive seen him??.. may have... as kingy said he has had shocking growing injuries... but that sounds like his only fault.. only heard good things.. may need a few more years in VFL/SANFL/WAFL to develop.. prob will go but wont play within 3 years imo

flying joey he is the big lanky saints ruckmen. You hav played against him at least twice that i no of

Very interesting thread thus far. Just a query. Does anyone know who the last SA kid to get drafted was who neither got screening or camp. Got a feeling it was Matt Davis but unsure.

PS Did Tim Davey get a screening??

okay i didnt know that about his knee. like i said i think because of his lack of physical size someone may be reluctant to pick him up this year and hes to young to be put on a rookie list based upon what straylan said but ive been very impressed with him from what ive seen. its hard to say with his knees, maybe maybe not depends if hes over them or not... bad example i know but chris judd had horrific shouloder injuries 2 of 3 years before getting drafted.

pretty sure thats right, swans picked him up out of obscurity after like 5-6 games with north adelaide. i dont think its unheard of though, ive got a feeling ben hudson didnt go to screening before being picked up by the crows. unsure on davey perhaps one of the rossie boys could give us a heads up on that.

Davey did not get a screening, I am 95% sure on that. Will find out though bare with

sorry mate dont rmber him... im sure he is a talent but i dont think school footy is much of a measuring stick... alot of players look good cos of the teams they play in... ps- wats that guy who plays on the ball for sts and has short blond hair... fairly solid little lad

That would be trent burge. Hes coming out to either north or norwood next year (hes currently zoned to centrals). Hes a pretty decent player

Burge is very decent.
A jack johnson kind of player.... doesn't mind holding onto the ball, and wont pass if in the forward 50.
He should do well out at a club though.

Alex Hutchins? To young to get drafted this year.

yeah just another comment to roodog because he talked before thinking about what the thread states, which is about state screening and the draft camp, so what i asked about hutchins is is he going to any of the 2 mentioned above?

and what he replied was that he is too young to get drafted... So mr 2000 posts, do underage players get to go to draft camp and screening?

Lies uncovered mate, you are either the dumbest bigfooty veteran ever or you are jus another noob. keep digging yourself out of the hole mate
