We probably wanted Isaac Smith, but had to go tall.
I was hoping we would get Watson this morning because he was reportedly our man.
I just wanted McCarthy for his upside.
Crazy to get both plus Mitchell.
Especially since two of those picks came via trades.
We finally have a defender who can clear the ball with a raking kick.
Thats it as well mate... I like the looks of all 4 of the defenders we have picked up this year. 2 KPP and 2 medium sized defenders with good skills and speed who can cover the smalls.
Now we have 2 KP forwards to work with for the future in Casboult and Mitchell. A years worth of development into those 2 and we might see them both playing a part in the forward line from 2012 onwards.
The smart thing is we get Buckley next year, so to pick the talls we got this year is a good result.

Interesting to note that both Casboult and Mitchell are 198cm monsters so you would assume that they will spend some time rucking in the fwd line.

I have high hopes that those two will be key parts of our forward line for the next decade, but don't forget Henderson as well. With those three and the three little guys, it could be a very dangerous forward line.

In seasons gone by, I have always wondered why other clubs seem to pick a gem in the prior years draft and why we never find a dimond in the ruff... in my opinion not only did we find a dimond (in Watson), but we also found gold (in Patty boy and Mitchell).
Guys, i haven't read yet what people thought of Ratts, in the cold face tonight (next to WH). Seemed like (despite what I have read on other blogs) that he was sending a message that he was going to choose the boys HE wanted...
