Someone tweeted it's 'Sombrero Saturday' at Etihad this weekend, what a great idea to all rock up in Sombreros and in our Essendon gear hahahahah:D

Vlad still hasn't explained himself re giving Evans a heads up. Lsat time just threatened to sue journos if they insisted with questions. So going to Court could get ugly for Vlad. Gees i'm almost willing to risk 2014 to see this play out in a proper open legal forum.

BTW these guys were seen at a meeting with Hird

Latest news.. I hear Vlad has organised a 'fact finding' trip to Mexico to try and find the origins of the mystery bottle.

He is taking the family and will also stop by Disneyland California to discuss more about how to run a drug free sport from the MLB.

I think I should go along, just to be an independent 3rd party... I'm keen to find out what was in the bottle. I might take the picture featured by the fairfax media in this forum as a guide to help me find out...

I am really keen for the movie now.

Injections. Off Site. Drug Labs. Chemists. Amino Acids. Peptide Use. Mexican. Mexico. Disability. Drugs. Scandal. Defiance. Love Story. Loss of Innocence. David vs Goliath.

It has it all.

It's funny how much better journalism is when the profit motive is removed. I wonder how many other organizations/industries would be better for the public if they were run on a not for profit basis? Really makes you think.
The craziest thing from all this is that the NRL now seem to have gone about this far better than the AFL.

The AFL did nothing to prevent, and I am almost certain they assisted, in whipping up a media shit storm to continually bombard the public into seeing shady dealings and guilt.

If they did their job properly and defended the integrity of the game until the findings were released, then they would not be in this ridiculous situation where they feel they need a large scalp.

And those numpties Jason Clare and Kate Lundy, well if the LNP need some embarrasing ALP footage to show in their election campaign, they should just replay that fool's "blackest day in sport" comments. They have tarnished our game and Australian sport primarily to deflect from Labor corruption dramas that were occuring at the time. I'm surprised the LNP haven't been making a bigger deal out of this.

It's funny because at the start of this everyone was shitcanning the NRL for the way they were handling it, and citing the AFL and EFC as the correct way of going about it. How the tables have turned. The NRL will probably have to announce that a few players are getting banned for 2 years whereas the AFL is staring into the barrel of years of legal fights.
As someone else pointed out, the fact it is Mexican should not matter.

Once again journalists are insinuating something evil on the basis of something irrelevant such as the country of origin.

Can someone say RACIST!!!

Also the emphasis on the guys disability. WTF??

He has a genetic disease so he must have access to good drugs maybe? Who knows?

Add in an air-powered gun, AD strolling after the Bombers like Pepe Le Pew and we've got "No Country for Old Vlads"

How the **** is Hird (or anyone else for that matter) supposed to make sure the guy injecting stuff is injecting the right stuff. Now to begn with there is no context here so it may well have been a mistake caused by the disabled guys' tequila being stored in the same fridge as the drugs. But still, Hird has a right to trust his minions to do the right thing and not just inject the players with the first bottle of whatever to get grabbed from the fridge. I mean any well meaning employee would realize that using someone else's drugs, especially when you don't know what they are is a clear breach of the very straightforward 'WADA legal, Doctor approved and safe' guidelines you were supposed to follow.

This is sounding more and more like when Robinson was made head of sports science he was expected to come up with the lines of reporting and record keeping and whatnot. However being little more than a glorified weightlifter he had zero managerial skills or experience and let the whole thing become a laissez faire injection fest.

I mentioned this on the HTB months ago, and basically got panned for it. There are ways to manage this and minimize the risk, but people don't want to know about it.

In my industry certain chemicals we use are high risk or of concern. Once a product is developed the QA manager has to review all ingredients used in the materials, and only approve after they have received all necessary validation/testing information to confirm the item is "safe". Its then passed to the GM of Ops, and the GM of Production who both review the QA Managers report, and flag any additional questions. Only once all three approve, is the ingredient allowed to be used in product.

Then you have sourcing. Its done by a Procurement Manager who vets the suppliers, only working with those approved to work with the company (usually after inspections or third party audits).

Problem for EFC is Dank was doing 100% of the approval process (although Reid was involved, I get the vibe he was sidelined to some extent - just my feeling), and Dank was managing procurement (via his own commercial arrangement). This is not to bag out EFC by the way, as I said at the time I suspect most of the 17 other clubs are probably running in a similar way. Problem for EFC is Dank exploited this trust and naivety, and because of the ACC investigation into Dank, EFC got on the ASADA radar.

In hindsight, you would have wanted all supplements only being used after sign off by Dank, Corcoran, and Reid, with a file of supporting data on the supplement kept on file and retained by all three. Procurement to be out of Dank's hands, and managed by someone in the office. All approvals for purchases about $5k to be requiring Corcorans approval, and any spend about $20k for a month to be reverted to Corcoran (ie no automatic approvals for spend for Dank, and he cannot choose source of supply).

My fear is a lot of fans and clubs think this is an EFC issue only, and are not worrying about getting their house in order.

The good thing from all of this is I imagine EFC and other clubs will be moving to a process more in line with this.

That's been a theme on the HTB for a while now. Pointing it out means you are apparently "beyond help"......

I know EFC and the Pies have. Some clubs I've listened to are still pushing the "we don't use supplements so its not an issue for us" line. I think its really naive, as they can still be exposed (as the Dees have been with the Bate referral). FWIW I'm not loving the messages from my own club on this issue.

Most clubs want to keep it secret, its the wrong approach IMO. Woolies QA policy and requirements are on their website. Mattel's QA program is on their website. They let everyone know how tough it is because they are proud of it and it makes their product better. Companies who keep it secret usually do so because they have a bare minimum program. If EFC has taught us anything, that is the wrong approach.

At least from 2014 you can be confident you will probably have one of the best PED programs (in terms of compliance) in Australian sport.

If someone is sitting in front of me wearing a sombrero, I refuse to be held accountable for what happens.

Not that this will eventuate, but if it did, it is at Etihad stadium, you would have to have Marge Simpson sitting in front of you to have your view obstructed...

I'm surprised Caro didn't try and infer the old pensioner smuggled the drugs from Mexico to Australia inside a prosthetic leg.
