If it wasnt one of the Essendon players in '93, it probably would have been someone in VFL days who was younger - random guess maybe Tim Watson in late 70's, or perhaps Dermie in 83 (84?) - so if we're talking VFL days, thats not even relevant to us, be better off mentioning Wangas in '90 SANFL Grand Final.

In saying that, I reckon Ashley McIntosh was fairly young when he played his first final - without looking it up, I'll say it was in '91. From memory, I think he was born in '73, so he was perhaps around Colquhoun's current age.

Thanks! Looking up the ages of the players you listed it looks like Fletcher was the last player younger than Colquhoun to play in a final. He missed the 1993 Qualifying Final with an ankle injury but played in the Semi Final on the 12th of September. Fletcher didn't turn 19 until May 7 the following year.

The kid can defend but is a few Kg's short.
Once he puts on a couple of kilos he'll be good. :thumbsu:

the footy brain is there. when to dive in, when to hang back or run off. the body seems to be able to do most of what the brain is learning to ask of it.

Da hOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON. Love the way he goes about it. Exceeded all of my expectations

Looks like being such a good player. Reads it well, attacks the ball hard and when he gets a few km's in the tank and kilos on the chassis will need to be tagged by the opposition.

We need another like him - but one who can shut down good small forwards. Most of our losses this year have been due to small forwards kicking too many goals.

Colquhoun is younger than Judd was in his first final, so does anyone know who the last player younger than Colquhoun to play in a final is?

Maybe old man Fletcher. 1993 reckon he was 17 and playing during the season Remember him being on TV going to school during the week and then playing for Essendon on the weekend.

THE YOUNGEST player in the AFL was undoubtedly one of Port Adelaide's most promising revelations last year.
And now Sam Colquhoun needs to do it again, according to his line chief Matthew Nicks.

Nicks told portadelaidefc.com.au Colquhoun's impressive first season delivered the club experience beyond his age.
"What a story - the youngest on our list, in the AFL, but he plays like a 10-year-veteran," said Nicks.

I have only seen him live once but his composure under the Freo pressure was a stand out
