I think the 2nd part of this is bordering on untrue these days. We haven't really seen him perform down back like he did in 2022 for a couple of years now. As others have said, the fractured face certainly caused issues with his confidence and form which helped prompt the ruck shift.

Will be very interested to see what he does end of year if Connor O'Sullivan comes on this year and SDK doesn't take to full time ruck duties. I've heard theres doubts over Conway's immediate future in some regard but not sure what that chat is about.

Would love him at the Blues playing with Tom if he was looking for more time down back. Him and Weitering would make a fantastic pairing.
He fractured his face, then had surgeries, then got thrown in the ruck. The issue is wildly overstated.

AFL is a business afterall and every player has their price, unlike his brother Tom, SDK is not a FA so if he does get his head turned and he has a decent 2025. interested parties prepare to part with something nice and shiny

How much do you think he's worth ATM?

hes had a couple of downish years due to injury and form, but he still young and a key posi player in a premiership team. but trades are not made at the moment, theres a whole season between now and next trade window so it can range from one high pick, two teen picks to a second rounder.

Bold decision in a contract year. Ruck isn't everyones cup of tea and a brutal role to play for a whole season. There'd be a few clubs throwing him some very good offers to return to his KPD role next year if it doesn't pan out (Obviously Blues being one of them)

I think it's more out of necessity re our lack of rucks. I agree the concern is that bigger rucks will get into him physically but if his body holds up the position could suit him as well as it has his brother.

Depends how he plays this year. If he has a down format year it lowers his value if he plays like 2022 then he would be worth 2 firsts (or a first and a good player) considering how hard it is to get quality key backs on the market.

Watch this space. St Kilda coming harder than a teenage boy discovering lotion for the first.

St kilda come for lots of quality players but rarely get them. I'm worried about other Vic clubs but not them.

The connection with St Kilda will be the Mornington Peninsula and although Sandringham is 30 minutes away, still close enough.

Max Holmes had that same connection and he turned down heaps more at the Saints to stay with the Cats.

People forget that SDK, Bruhn, Ollie Henry and Max Holmes are all really close so they don't really want to leave as they all get to live, hang out and play together. Go look at socials, always hanging out together and are all really good mates, i've also seen Bowesy, Ollie Dempsey and now Bailey Smith floating around that group.

That's why people thought TDK was coming to Geelong, because owns a house with Sam down in Torquay (surf culture baby) and is good mates with Sam, Tanner, Ollie and Max

I'm aware of that but I doubt he is choosing St kilda. There's a heap of clubs I'd worry about before them.

I mentioned this on the stkilda board about 7 weeks ago
Massive offer and St Kilda is going all out for TDK and the number mentioned could be higher than the LDU offer north tabled.

SOS & Lyon really want him

I've heard Saints are going after TDK too.
Said it before but no team in the league has enough trade capital to get TDK and SDK in one off season. Both would cost an absolute fortune and I really can't see a scenario where Carlton don't match an offer on Tom to force a trade. We cleared a substantial amount of cap space last season for that very reason.

Brother Tom.

But it’s the Saints who have once again stunned industry figures with an apparent willingness to splash enormous cash.

While it must be stressed that no offer has been formally tabled, multiple sources familiar with the situation said the Saints have indicated they would be prepared to give De Koning a seven-year contract worth close to $12 million.

The eye-watering deal would equate to around $1.7 million a season.

It means that even if De Koning chose to stay at Carlton in that scenario, he would be sacrificing somewhere in the vicinity of $700,000 a season, or conservatively, around $4 million over the life of the contract.

Geeez Carlton are gonna be struggling to fit everyone in at this rate.
