News Sam Docherty - Another ACL :((

2018 just had to put on the steel spikes and really stomped us when we are arleady down.... this kind of feels like a fatality kill in mortal kombat when the game master asks you to "finish him". Apart from the new guys. Im at a lose on how to get excited for 2019

Thread has been sanitized to a degree, and still a myriad of pseudo supporters wanting to bag medicos, recruiters and anyone else to
feed some ridiculous agendas.

Mr_Plow I have to say that I find this the most disappointing post I came across. I have always regarded you as a good poster, but
to , in anyway suggest exclusion of a former team member, albeit such an important and revered one. Sam Docherty epitomises the
Carlton so many people are attempting to resurrect. To in any way exclude him as being a member of the group through both trials
and ultimately successes is an action I cannot cop.

The bloke, the playing group and the club has been dealt a devastating blow, do us a favour and find a better way to "cope".

A team, and a club must stand together.

This is in no way excluding Sam, we stand behind him and with the group as a whole.

Pragmatically speaking, re-injuring the same knee in a 12 month span through innocuous incidents does not bode well for the future, unfortunately, unless the surgeon ****ed up the procedure from the get-go. I don't have the statistics of making a return to elite sport after such incidents. It would be wise to mentally (and in a list management sense) prepare ourselves for a future that doesn't involve Sam in defence.

It pains me but this is unravelling as a Menzel/Johnson situation.

Horrible news. Poor Doc must be totally gutted.

I wonder how Bolton and the group will handle this because this will absolutely take the wind out of the sails of the playing group I would think.

Never good to see players injure themselves.

From a club perspective, you can look at this two ways:

1. OMG, we lost Docherty. We're screwed. 0 & 22 season coming up. World is coming to an end or
2. We're in the fortunate position to cover Doc's absence through the recruitment of Nic Newman and return of Tom Williamson.

I prefer viewing the situation with point 2.

Unlikely he has an impact at all now. Some make it back, plenty dont.

First ACL was innocuous which was a bad sign.

Gutted for him and holy shit that kills a lot of our progress in in 2019.
Ricey did...some do.
As for our progress...no, totally disagree...it will happen regardless. Theres young players in our list that are going to be as good or better than Doc.

I agree. Let the club do option 2.

This board will handle option 1.

Very very gutted for Sam, the guy is an ultimate professional and did everything he could to come back and this shit luck happens again.

I’m sure as a club we’ll survive even if we don’t win as many games next year as we hoped, but what’s exceeding worrying for Sam is that even though he did everything right, this happening in training conditions (not full blown match conditions) signals to me that his knee unfortunately is weaker than even he thought, and I hate to say it, but this might be the end for him even though I know he will do everything he can to come back time and again :(

Painfully honest.

Sam needs to be Willos one on one coach now.

who ever was in charge for his rehab should be fired
possibly the stupidest post I've seen in this thread - kudos - it was quite a field...........:thumbsu:

So devastated for Doc. Can’t believe it.
Does anyone know how this happened?

Our ******* medicos all need to piss off. If he was training full load when he had any inkling of not being 100% , I’ll be furious with the club.

Wishing him well, hurry up and get back to us Doc.

I was emotional when I wrote this. Apologies to our medical team. But I still want someone to blame :(

still in shock - was saying to a mate at work today how good it is to go into xmas / new year with no injuries.

Terrible news as so many have commented previously. Have to feel for the bloke going through a second ACL.
If we are loking to be a side that pushes deep into the finals come 2021 then we need to rely less on a smaller group of players, so time for a Newman, Williamson or LOB to step up and make the half back theirs.
Those people blaming the surgeon or rehab people for this are IMO way offline. An ACL can go so easily whether they have been reconstructed before or not. I have had one done and his rehab would have been 100 times more organised and planned than mine and mine stood up. It is simply bad luck. Lets hope he can repeat Dean Rice's efforts and play in a premiership the next year after he did his second ACL.

Keep it civil please and refrain from the personal crap.

Let us deal with anything instead of biting back.
