In previous years they've shown first/second/final list lodgement dates in these 'key dates', but not this time - I suppose they're sort of implied by these other dates.

The unwarranted blind over rating of this bloke is laughable, sadly your football judgement is lacking

Your reading comprehension is lacking. What in anything that I have said is over-rating him? You're a joke. Hardcore is describing what this administration has done to your brain.

We got absolutely murdered in the midfield in both finals. Lycett played poorly, the GWS games was one of the worst ruck games you'll ever see from an established ruckman.

Anyone arguing that Hayes wouldn't have been better has rocks in their head.

i stand by my assertion that daddy stinkers deliberately gassed hayes out in the game against richmond by playing him on field almost the entire first half against nank + soldo, so that when he was exhausted and making mistakes he'd be justified in subbing and dropping him for eternity.

he's that much of a spiteful dickhead

You’re delusional lol

Lycett was awful in the GWS game but he was the better ruck against McInerney the week before.

This is a great example of people overrating Hayes though assuming he'd have been better just because the option we used was bad. This is why we're getting a whole new ruck division - we didn't have a good option this year.

Lycett didn't have a good game against Brisbane. At all. At best he broke even with another player who had a poor game, but the result was that our midfield got smashed, especially at the stoppages.

He has no chemistry with the mids and has no ability to get the ball to them on the move or in space. You can see that sort of thing immediately improve when Hayes is in the side.

Brisbane had their highest scores from stoppages for the season in the Semi Final. More than against North or West Coast. When your ruckman's claim to fame is that he throws his weight around and negates his opponent, that sort of stat isn't great.

It is so obvious when you know it and see it. Lycett was holding on and playing his own game to the detriment of the midfield.

Midfielders just want to dominate and get clean ball. When they do, it supernovas their confidence. Sam Hayes was average but would dominate centre for short periods of time and our young midfield loved it.

Here's hoping the Soldo and Sweet can change the dynamic for us because it will really add massive layers of confidence and scoreboard pressure to our team.

Rozee, Butters and Horne-Francis have yet to get clean ball in the centre for extended periods of time and it is a tantalising, mouth watering prospect. A good tap ruck could elevate us to 4 goals without a ball being bounced.

Wow, you're really upset that a player was made to play one full half of football huh?

How dare we expect a ruckman to... be on the ground and ruck

I dont see how our coaches and development are to blame If Hayes is still cooked after one half of AFL footy (during which he was thumped).

Visentini has been on the list for 2 years (as opposed to 6) and has already gone past Hayes in all aspects.

Now that Soldo and Sweet are here, time's up.

But it's all just a conspiracy against Sam I'm sure.

Sam's still on our list and I don't like our chances of picking up another ruck in the National Draft that we would want to develop.

Think both Vigo and Goad are gone by our pick.

Sams still a chance of a one year deal or we need to find another ruck.

I am glad someone else can see it too.
I felt like the guy from zoolander who pointed out that magnum & blue steel were the same look.
It’s so obvious.
We are dead last for hit outs in the afl.
Yet we have one of the best attacking midfields in the afl & still managed 2nd in clearances. By playing a cooked Lycett continually we are literally throwing our main tactical advantage in the bin.
We have cooked old war horse Lycett prematurely. We have destroyed Hayes career also & killed our chances to win a final for the last 2-4 seasons.
The mismanagement of our rucks is my number 1 criticism of the clubs coaches.

He’s okay but he was drafted 6 years ago so he really should be performing at a higher level by now but it appears he’s gone backwards after the Peter ladhams trade opened the door for him.

My gut feel is that he’ll be delisted, but with scooter gone I’d prefer we kept him as depth for one more year. I don’t want injuries and rucking with Dixon and Finlayson again.

But I think soldo slots straight in as number 1 ruck and Sweet and Visentini next in line.

If Hayes was as good as everyone rates him on here, he would’ve already found another home. No doubt they would’ve had him on the trade table and would’ve taken a 4th rounder for him.

With a main list that is at full capacity, we have to delist 3 players in prep for draft picks or rookie promotions. He will 100% be delisted. The only option would be to rookie him, but we've marked his cards by spending big on Soldo. He should go somewhere else as a backup, and surely someone will pick him up. His form late last year considering a completely busted shoulder was pretty good really.
