It seems that Sam would sooner play on the wing or half forward. That is encouraging.
He'll probably have to in order to get a game. He'd probably only be ahead of McKenzie down back, maybe Lienert too but I think the coaches rate Lienert so would start Mayes behind him.
Our high half forward / wing stocks are pretty much Boak (only a year or 2 left), Farrell, Motlop, Barry and maybe Burton/Hoff (only a few years left) if they're played on the wing...so he's probably got a better chance getting a game on that line.
