I really wish we could of keep Medders, but I was some what releived last night to see that he hasn't really changed his game style since leaving.
He is still a small trying to play big. Not what we need at the moment.

yep, looked the same as he did at freo. he didnt get a lot of service though and he had to try and make something outa nothing, because nothing was happening for the pies.

Some Collingwood supporter on the main board last night commented that he needed to "pull your f-king finger out. You're a senior player." Poor medders - it won't take long for Pies supporters to turn on him if he doesn't start playing well and kicking a few goals...

Unfortunately his kicking accuracy does not seem to have improved. He used to be a great kick... what happened:confused:

its probably a confidence thing. when things seem to be going right for him, all of his skills seem to go up a notch. i wonder if he'll be able to get into that form he was in back in 2003?

I really think theat Mehurst should be played close to goal. Last nite showed that his play up the game is below par and it isn't Fremantle fault that Medhusrt is totally lost outside the 50.

Meh Collingwood supporters are tools - no secrets there ... Medders will be ok - go Medhurst!!!

nah i noticed a difference...
his physique, much thinner.
collingwood got thrashed, he couldnt have done much more.
except kick acurately.
meh i wish him all the best!

I for one believe Medders will be a very good aquisition to the Pies.Gee ,he kicked a couple of goals, tryed hard, even delivered a beautiful 50 metre pass to rusling right on his chest. This week was no indication.Medders will fire up when he has Rocca, fraser, and buckley around him in that forward line.I reckon he will be the surprise packet of 2007,once he settles in.

He didn't fire with pav, farmer, lonmuire and murphy around him. He is a small playing tall. Is not the player that a team pushing for a premiership needs.

Rocca and Fraser need crumbers to compliment them, which Medders isn't, and you have way better than him already. Buckley is in a way similar to Medders, in that he is a small playing tall. If you are delivering the ball to the forward line and you have the choice of Medhurst and Buckley, Buckley is who you would choose over and over again. Unfortunately Medhurst only woked well for us when he was the "go to" forward, rather than a support act. His big party trick involves hands in the back of the defender to get him under the ball, then running onto the ball after it has passed overhead. It didn't work at AFL level, and would not stand a chance in the current environment. And I can't see Malthouse tolerating his play on from a mark so that he can snap over his shoulder, rather than just have a set shot.

You loved him 12 months ago. Have you forgotten?

I still love him. Have some great memories of medders - esp in derbies and that memorable 9 goal game v Brisbane. :thumbsu:

Doesn't mean that he's still an AFL quality "small" player, or that he doesn't have a huge ego, or that he would get a game if he had stayed. ;)

I'm not sure a lot Collingwood fans on BigFooty would be familiar with William Golding, and "kill the pig, kill the pig" but they should be. They're the first to eat their own.
we know you are just new kids on the block but are you familiar with a team called richmond over here, you must have us confused with them

Hello Everybody, happy new year and all that jazz.:thumbsu:

Not his only trick. I seem to remember Medders as being a freak of a mark when the ball is moved in quickly, he did start getting pinged alot for holding his ground with his hands in the back of the defender, who only had to fall over to get the free kick. Im sure if he stays as the player close to goal and becomes a greedy bugger again hell be snapping goals from the pockets for the Pies with Buckley leading to the 50 using his skills up the ground. Good luck to Medders, he played some fantastic games for us, he just didn't get the results we needed in his new assignments.

And noone will match his hair LOL

lets face it he was the set of steak knives thrown in, in the tarrant deal, i think he is a bit of insurance with didak out

Polly, his marking has not actually been a feature for a few seasons. Notably since we started to develop tall marking options, and requiring Medhurst to crumb. He is just not good enough to develop a forward line strategy around. Same with Williams at Hawthorn, and as it was with Ratera at WC. Both had more tricks and skill than Medhurst in my opinion, but small forwards as your leading goal scorers just doesn't seem to win the big ones.
