How good was Sampi's goal, even though he at times his crticised for certain patches of form, even though he only kicked that magical goal, u have to respect the other parts of his game such as tackling and his disposal quality. Anyway what are your thoughts on his Samps-sational's goal?

Sampi's goal was audacious - truly top shelf stuff. He has a habit of doing the magical. I just wish we could see more of it from him, but we need to remember that he is still very young and there is much improvement left in him yet - along with consistency.
What I am impressed by with Sampi is his ability to set up run out of the center square with sharp handball - he is sensational in the centre square when Woosha plays him there. I'd like to see it happen more often. I'd like to see it happen this Sunday for the big one.

I sit behind the goals at the end the goal was kicked. The crowd noise rose like anything the longer Sampi kept chasing the ball. But when he went with the banana kick and it was looking good there was a collective "oooh" as people couldn't believe he could possibly kick it. Of course when it went through, the place went nuts.

Great highlight to add the Sampi reel

What I loved was a quarter or so later, Kerr found himself 30m out directly in front, and surprise surprise, he decided to go the banana for no apparent reason. Everyone wants to be like Samps :)

Kerry usually does it well though :), although i too was surprised when he did it from directly infront. Thats the goals i sit behind in that middle section thats under cover.

to be honest, it was because he had no left foot so it was the only way for him to get the goal without having to turn back into traffic and kick on his right. jeff farmer tries about 10 of them again, 3 years on he is yet to get a goal :D

Anyone remember Peter Matera kicking a similar style goal?
Unfortunately it was a game during the Judge years at Subi so not many might remember.
He basically got the ball, about 45m out directly in front.. flat footed and about to be tackled... he took one step and kicked the banana straight through the middle. Unbelievable talent.

No chance. Goodes' goal early on in the year is way out in front.

Agree BB.

That goal of Goodes was an absolute corker.

Goodes: Goal of the year
Sampi: Mark of the year

Pretty sure Peter Matera did the same thing in a final against NM at Waverley back in '93. 50m banana straight thru the big sticks - truly amazing stuff!
