Keep him.

He's shown in the past that he can be a more than useful contributor. No point trading him when his value is at rock-bottom.

Let's see what he's made of next year on a 1 year contract. He's been given plenty of time now to come to terms with his personal issues. If they persist into next year, then it wasn't meant to be. If he fires up, we have a 40 goal a year forward with a great mark, kick, tackle etc.

I agree.

His pressure when the ball is inside 50 was as good as Phil Materas IMO when he was up and running.... Tackling, smothering and general forward 50 pressure to keep the ball in the area was great when onsong.

Do all that then the goals will follow.

I really hope Samps comes good :thumbsu:

What the eagles should do to make sampi strive hard to get back up there is to give him chick's number 17. Were pretty much delisting chick so sampi can have another chance, so if we remind him of the sacrifices the club has made in order to get him back doing what he loves. Chick was one of the hardest workers on the field so sampi should try and repay the eagles for this oppurtunity by modelling himself on chick's work ethic and effort. Make sure he stays in perth, avoid turtle and maybe send him on a bootcamp or just put him on a ridiculously strict fitness regime.

do you really think that is the reason for delisting chick?

Sampi should seriously be training now (if not as soon as the season finished) if he is serious about playing AFL next year.

He has been training for a few weeks now

What garbage! Chick was/is gone either way

He's probably the most naturally talented player on our list, and if he can prove that he has his had 100% right I think we should take the punt and give him a 1 year contract.

Like I said about a month ago, put him on minimum wage and make him prove himself by rd1 2008. If he doesn't, we delist him and promote a rookie, and we've lost nothing.

So lets see:confused:

We have lost five players, Wooden, Chick, RoJo, Morton and J**d.

We gained one player, Kennedy, that leaves four spots.

We have four picks in the top 22 which we will definately use.

That leaves no room to elevat MacNamara or C Jones:mad:

This means if Sampi stays and/or we elevate Junior Mac someone else has to be cut.

Is it Sampi or someone else, that is the question.

Do we have any up and comers who have major injury issues and slower than expected development?

honestly .. i know some may think this is inconsiderate and rude and bla bla bla .. but it's really just annoying me how he has a potential spot in the club and he's not doing anything about ittttt .. look at mcnamara, mitch brown, will schofield, ben mckinley, etc .. they train every week in and out ..

im sure they have problems too .. sure it doesn't compare to that of sampi's but they still have problems .. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT SAMPI !!

But cuz and brauny will swap spots with one or two rookie listers using the veterans list system
Yep

That's exactly what will happen

Whilst all his teammates are laying on the beach in Vanuatu or fighting for their life in Las Vegas, Sampi is already a few weeks into his pre-season training.

Way to show your ignorance

And while all his teammates were training all last pre-season and throughout the season, Sampi wasn't training:p.

But seriously, i think we should give him 1 more year, and if he doesn't get a game with us then, then he's gone

Sampi has been given a chance to prove he has found the required dedication to be an AFL footballer prior to our list being finalised prior to the draft.

Let's hope he does so, because an up and running Sampi will do wonders for our side in 2008 - if he can somehow manage to find a work ethic to match his ability our forwardline will look a whole lot better.

Has sampi even been training for the last half of the year? Its going to be pretty hard after no AFL level training. His fitness level must be shot, i'd be supprised if he could run out a quarter of WAFL by the start of preseason (thats assuming he starts training hardcore now).

The reports were that he turned up super slim in September or so, the thinnest hes been for a while. He said he had been running on the beach a lot. That, together with his early start to the preseason, should give him an excellent fitness base, probably the best ever. I think hes refound his hunger, and 2008 will be a massive year for him.

He also reckons he has stopped eating turtle. Which he reckons make you really lethargic & stacks on the weight.

Great news. Hopefully this is the start for him :thumbsu:

I really can't wait to see him play hope he gets it together. Was one of my favorite players, such a talent.

If he can play at even 80% of his best, he will absolutely tear it up. With LeCras getting crumbs as well, next year is looking even more promising.

GO SAMPS!

the situation with our list changes is the following:

38 on senior list
6 on rookie/veteran list
ben cousins and michael braun are both eligible for the veterans list next year so they will be put there and chad jones and jamie mcnamara will both be upgraded to the senior list.

chris judd, josh wooden, rowan jones, mitch morton and daniel chick leaving the senior list we should use our first 4 draft picks (3, 13, 20 and 22) and either keep sampi or use pick 54, hell we could even keep daniel chick and delist sampi and not use pick 54.

basically its a decision on either chick/sampi/pick 54, what do you reckon they will choose?

Chad Jones delisted - Sampi retained

I think we all know that he needs a big shake up maybe just maybe he might realise that he still got to prove himself and want to be the best he can be.
If eagles delist him even though no interest shown during trade, some club will pick him up for free ,and give him a chance you never know.

I think Sampi is probably going to win that one. Chick was obviously decided on by Eagles management without any idea on what picks/ list spots were available. I would rather give Sampi another go, given the depth of the draft at 54 is not that strong (supposedly).

So Sampi for mine if he can hit all the targets that the Eagles set for him (and I think the Eagles seemed to be pretty encouraged by that)
