Good on Essendon.:thumbsu:
It means that the players can stop being confused about the fact that every player wears no.3 and they can be like the other 15 clubs in the competition.

I just hope they dont make the front of all adidas jumpers like that. Its awfull. It looks more like a tank top with the round neck.

Collingwood will be wearing the same ones next season.

Who cares what they look like if they give you a competative advantage?

So are the fans jerseys going to be that tight? Dont want to see fellow male Essendon supporters with beer guts and man boobs walking around in those things. Clinging to the wrong lines in that case.

On the other hand.....Hello ladies..

The jumper looks awful

What a great way to butcher a great looking jumper

An outstanding deal completed by Essendon. $2.7m per year for 3 years, with an option of a 4th. What makes it even more lucrative than the existing '3' deal is that unlike the deal with '3', Essendon can sell naming rights to the coaches boxes in separate deals. This may be worth an additional $200,000 per annum. Add to that, Addidas are on board for 4 years, and '3' are working with Essendon to continue their partnership in some form post 2008.

In difficult economic times, Essendon's commercial operations arm is performing extremily well relative to the competive set.

Essendon will enter 2009 with an increase in sponsorhip alone of at least $1.4m.

sponsor does jack all (samsung that is)

they did jack all for the hawks, do jack-all MelbVictory....

If putting $2.7m per year into a club is 'Jack all' then I wonder what doing alot for a club would be!!

Unlike most clubs, Essendon decided about 4 years ago to develop a portfolio of business partners that have a national / international reach. Essendon will use this reach to communicate to its supporters all around Australia by working with Samsung and its national database of national customers, just as Essendon will supply its national database to Samsung (275,000).

Essendon will continue to market itself nationally with Samsung, using its independent website it CONTROLS to assist Samsung and itself to reach their respective supporters / customers. What a master stroke it has proven to be with Essendon continueing to control its brand via its website.

Perhaps Hawthorn is wondering why Samsung chose Essendon ahead of Hawthorn in recent years as its perferred vehicle!

You have sold you name and become a interstate team.

Absolutely.

I mean we've only increased Melbourne based home attendances from 34,000 to 53,000 and membership from 28,000 to 41,000 in the 2 seasons since we signed the deal, it has seriously comprimised the clubs capacity to grow in Melbourne, clearly

Not really, Samung parted ways with us 5 years ago, that is ancient history in buisness.

One of Hawthorn's major partners today is a Samsung rival anyway - NEC

Hmmm...

That wouldn't be because what would normally be your lowest attending home crowds (and therefore bringing your average down) are now played out of Melbourne, would it?

Here's a great way to boost our average home attendance, we'll play Port, Freo and the like in New Zealand.

Has anyone asked Essendon's members if they want to be marketed to?

Yes, the club asks.

You're asked as part of your application.

That makes no sense... Auroa only has a capacity of what 20 000... filling that out wont boost thier home ground attendences.

However their increased home game attendence is obvious. They are playing great football and Buddy Franklin. He would i think bring in 20 k himself every week.

i wasnt refering to money, i was refering to advertising, they give jack all back to the club.I hope it changes, but if it hasnt for this long...

Read it again champ.

The claim was they've increased their average MELBOURNE home game attendances.

Not overall.

Easy to increase your average MELBOURNE home game attendances when you ship off your lowest attending games to another venue in another state.
