Allison joins Tigers

GLENELG has opened its off-season recruiting campaign with the signing of 23-year-old Eagles utility Paul Allison.
Woodville-West Torrens' leading goalkicker in 2002, Allison should add more bite to the Tigers forward line.
"He'll slot into our forward structure really well," Glenelg chief executive Darren Chandler said.
"We don't expect him to be a 100-goal (a season) goalkicker but he provides us with another avenue to goal."
Former South Adelaide coach Ken Applegarth has been appointed as the Bays' football development manager after spending two years with the SANFL. "We were absolutely rapt to get Ken," Chandler said. "He comes with a lot of coaching experience and will work in well with David Noble and the senior coaching staff."
While the Tigers are hopeful of landing another key forward next month, they are mindful of harnessing the young talent already at the club.
"We're totally committed to our kids, particularly those in our south-east country zone," Chandler said.

Shannon Motlop, Jason Roe, Mark McLean (song of Magic) and Ronald Smith are all NT boys who will now be playing for North in 2004. That puts the recruiting list to over 20 now.

Daniel Elstone - 20 year old 182cm, 84kg midfielder from Hawthorn (AFL)
Nick Raines - 20 year old from Brisbane rookie list, right footer 178cm plays midfield and fwd.
Anthony Matthews - 18 year old from Mildura, 191cm, 88kg, right footer who plays fwd half.
Nick Madden - 17 year old from Mildura, 190cm, 77kg, right footer who plays on wing.

South have some great recruits, anything less than a finals appearance will be a disappointment for them.
In the recruiting stakes (also taking into account players lost), this is how I rate teams so far:

PS IMHO 3 to 9 on my list are all very close, 1 injury could easily move these teams about.

All it takes is 1 or 2 wins early in the year (first 3-4 rounds) to get the ball rolling and Norths confidence will be sky high and will probably end up around the finals mark at the end of the year.
However....if you start next year with some huge losses like you have the last 2 years then you could be back to square one again.
Agreed but unlike most recent years we dont have the pleasure of playing Centrals in our first game. Going into time on of the 3rd qtr of Rd 1 2003 we still had heaps of confidence, we were only 4 goals down on Centrals, I remember saying to a mate "at least we wont get beaten by 20 goals like last year).
For the next 35 minutes we got outscored about 100pts to nothing and season 2003 was gone already.
Still, we do have a better coach this year

Apparently a couple of boys from Portland are set to join Sturt next season.
After being coached by Brodie Atkinson last year, and playing in a premiership, Jarrod Holt and James Imbi are headed west!
Holty is about 22, and around 186cm. Struggled in the second half of the season with osteitis pubis, put still kicked five goals in the WBFL Grand Final as Portland beat South Gambier. Not a bad cricketer either!!!
Imbi is set to become a cult hero. His brother Winis played for the North Ballarat Rebels in their premiership year, won a seconds B&F at Essendon, came fourth in the Morrish Medal, and this year won the Western Border B&F after missing about 4 games.
And James is even better!! Just a breathtaking player, quick, and has legs like pogo sticks. Has a pretty good chance of making it
