There are a few similarities in the casting between 2021 & 2022, but there really isn't anyone to parallel Sabrina Frederick or Merrick Watts.

Brynne Edelstein & Roxy Jacenko are two peas in a pod. Both are vapid oxygen thieves, whose very existence weakens the human gene pool. Neither have, or ever will, achieved anything in their lives - other than being famous for doing nothing of value to the human race. Both were first one out, in their respective seasons.

Jessica Peris is the new Shayna Jack, cast because she's a doping cheat who wants to redeem herself in the eyes of the public. Jack failed to win anyone over with her crocodile tears, but Peris' family history makes for a much more compelling back story. She looked very shakey & uncomfortable in the first episode, but has looked better since (submerged vehicle escape notwithstanding).

Sam Burgess & Nick Cummins are cut from the same cloth. Both are big, strong rugby players (one Union, one League). Both appear to be very level headed and confident, and I would be surprised if Burgess isn't one of the 2021 winners (as was Cummins).

Mark Philipousis is the new Mitch Johnson. Both are ex-professional sportsmen, who will go (went) a long way in the competition, but weren't ultimately successful.

Isabelle Cornish & Bonnie Anderson are the new Ali Oetjen. Like Ali, they are tiny females who have shown a lot more than was expected of them. Cornish was the star of the trapezium (or whatever it was called), while Anderson's ability to get through the submerged car challenge put her firmly in the spotlight. I can't see either going all the way to the end, but both will eventually leave the show with their reputations enhanced.

Jana Pittman is the new Molly Taylor. Taylor went all the way to the final episode last year. She wasn't the biggest, strongest, or fastest, but she hung in there all the way to the end. Similarly, Pittman has a "mum bod" now, but she has the mental strength and determination to overcome her lack of physicality. For me, Pittman is the most likely "winner" of all the females in this group.

Emma Husar & Schapelle Corby have a few surprising parallels. Both have been disgraced, and (at least in part) went on the show to try and redeem their reputations. Both struggled physically with the demands of the course, and both went out in the 2nd episode. The difference is their believability - Husar was screwed over severely, and subsequent events have made her even more credible, while Corby was guilty as sin & incredibly lucky to avoid the death sentence.

Sabrina Frederick is & was unique. She's an absolute brute of a woman, who was arguably the 2nd strongest & most physically capable of last year's contestants (behind the Honey Badger). There is nobody like her in this year's group. I think the producers hoped that Alicia Molik would fill her shoes, but she's just not performing at the level Frederick achieved last year.

Merrick Watts was last year's surprise package. He took his preparation for the show ultra-seriously, and reaped the rewards. Pete Murray is probably the closest comparison, in terms of casting, but he's nowhere near the level Watts achieved.

Koby Abberton is this year's villain, as was Firass Dirani, but that's where the comparisons end between these two. Koby will probably make it to the final episode, before being "Eliminated" by the DS, when they make their final selections. His lack of integrity is a roadblock that he won't be able to overcome, no matter how he performs in every other regard.

Well id want to see the other footage then.
If he cheated on one station, he probably cheated on the others as well. He's the type who is prepared to do anything to "win". He would have cheated on any/every station where he didn't have a DS member watching over him.
The guy seems a bit strange. Maybe he cant count
They showed the video of him counting as he did it. I had him at 7 reps as he was counting 10 - he just appeared to be counting, not counting the number of reps he'd done. I think he just counted to 30 and moved on regardless.

I doubt he'll make it to the final episode when he's cheated, lied and pissed off the other contestants with his bragging and unapologetic behaviour.

I'm actually surprised they gave him another chance and didn't boot him off the course for that, maybe they just want the chance to punish him.

What about that "I'll go up and down this room and do more push ups than all of you put together!!!"

:roflv1:

I honestly dont think he's "all there".

Yeah it was a really weird response, the other contestants were already pissed off at him and that just made them hate him even more.

Most normal people would be just apologising to them in that situation and then hoping they would be nice enough to forgive them for it.

He just didn't "get it". He thought it was about the number of push ups, when it was about his lack of integrity.

His statement that "he could do more than the rest of them combined" is all about his need to feel that he is "winning" - it's a trait of the narcissistic personality.

Firass Dirani made it all the way to the final episode last year, only to be eliminated because he was a complete and utter knob. No reason to think that Koby will end up any differently.

If you can wait until the Uncensored version appears it is way more enjoyable
What's the difference between censored & uncensored versions?

Is it just removing the beeping whenever anyone swears? Do they show the body parts which are pixellated in the broadcast version? Is it additional footage not shown in the broadcast version?

Profanity
Thanks.

Don't think I'll bother if that's all it is. Not worth putting up with all the (non-skippable) ads on 7Plus, or the shithouse picture quality of the late night replay on 7Mate (still in very low bitrate SD here in Canberra). Maybe if there was additional footage, but not if it's just reinstating the swearing.

Seriously, thank you for answering my question. I was quite curious about the difference between the broadcast & uncensored versions. I do appreciate you taking the time to answer... even if your answer didn't result in the outcome you desired (more eyes watching the uncensored version).
