While it's pretty obvious Scarlett has squarely beat Rocca in the last 2 outings and it's hard to take articles in the Geelong addy seriously, I found this bit interesting: "In his past six games against the Cats, Rocca has averaged just two goals a match from nine possessions and four marks."

That's pretty poor evidence of Rocca having a poor record against Scarlett given that his career average is only 1.7 goals per game.

In fact head-head Rocca averages 2.4 goals a game when Scarlett has played - considerably above his career average. Meanwhile Scarlett's record against Collingwood isn't any better or worse than his record against any other club. No doubt this is skewed by the fact Tarrant used to regularly beat Scarlett, but the only thing the facts really support is that Scarlett has soundly beaten Rocca twice in 2007, the second occasion of which it was later revealed Rocca suffered an ankle injury, for which he got surgery immediately after.

I don't have hopes of Rocca having a blinder, but at the same time, we don't rely on him to win as much as in years gone past. I'm more concerned that Travis Cloke gets out of his form slump. He averages 3 goals a game against Geelong and pantsed the AA CHB last year, with disposals, 10 marks and 4 goals in round 15.

Look Scarlett is a superstar and probably has 14 other bunnies in the comp, he is far to agile and quick for Pebs so if things dont go to plan early this week with the matchup MM needs all his coaching guile to workout how to either A)Take scarlett out of the play, b)Make him moreaccoutable by having a small forward next to Pebs who will be a Psuedo Tagger if you like, C)do nothing and he runs amoke anyway.
Its a hard call but if we dont break even at least in all positions the wont mater what Scarlett does the cats will win anyway.

Yes, maybe it's MM who needs to fire, step up and show his class. Strategey might be everything tomorrow night.

There's nothing wrong with the article - no triumphalism in evidence - but the back cover is stupid and offensive. Blame the editor, not the writer.

Hopefully Rocca will be on a revenge mission. Anyone read Watership Down? Anthony needs to find his inner Bigwig.:thumbsu:

What's even more offensive (to rabbits) is that I think they're Kangaroo ears, not bunny ears. Conclusive evidence of Geelong supporters' short-sighted ramblings. As a professional, I can vouch for the fact it's a crap piece of retouching, too.

this kind of article has the power to affect a person... i know it wont affect rocca... but why doesnt mark robinson get on his high horse now and start preaching about depression etc... why doesnt mark doran now confront that journalist on SEN... if i were rocca and there was a picture of me as a bunny id become a lunatic.. hopefully its a full moon tomorrow and big boy pebs becomes a lunatic and kicks a bag against scarlett...

i hate journos.. rocca always provides something for us- a deft handball, a tap to advantage etc... and they always like to criticise him.. on the other hand mathew lloyd is now no more that an EDFL player but he doesnt get canned...

If Rocca is Scarlett's bunny, I'm hoping this is what Scarlett will be seeing on Friday night...

LOL Im laughing at how badly Hawthorn supporters want us to beat the Cats. Have you guys done this with any other teams in the last few weeks?

Anyway, to the point, it was written by some gutter-trash newspaper in a one-team town. What has that got to do with Geelong? How does that make THEM cocky?

I read in today's HS that Bomber and his boys haven't even spoken about last year's Prelim, other then evaluate our form and game, which is expected as an opponent. I think everyones beating this up more then it needs to be. Its just another game.

As for Rocca being Scarlett's bunny, I was going to start a thread but Im yellow-carded so I cant, but the stuff enosis posted is pretty much everything I was going to say about Rocca VS Geelong and Scarlett VS Collingwood;

In fact head-head Rocca averages 2.4 goals a game when Scarlett has played - considerably above his career average. Other then last year, how has Rocca been Scarlett's bunny? Geez, Scarlett would have a farm full of 'em if Rocca is his bunny. As was mentioned, he got towelled up in the H&A game, but played the Prelim with an injuried ankle.

I'm not optimistic about Friday night but I wouldn't be suprised if Collingwood did win. We just need to bring our A-game and hope they're still not functioning at 100%.

Scarlett used to play on Tarrant, he's played on Roc a few times and cut him up every time.

Not in the least, tired old Geelong town needed a lift in spirits, other than the one you sniff.
my friend its my father not me, and looking at your cheer squad i wouldnt be mouthing of about substance abusers, to there credit though i think they now have a set of teeth between them.;)
