Schwarz makes a valid point in that there is nowhere left for the Demons players to hide now that Neeld has been sacked.

While not naming names, the 1999 Demons best and fairest winner said there were 20 players on the current list with their heads ''on the chopping block" and could yet join Neeld.
"If we think though that this [Neeld's sacking] is a way out for the players, let's think again," Schwarz said on SEN on Monday.
"The players at the same time have got to take enormous responsibility," he said.
"I spoke to a lot of people about his and on the playing list at the moment there are 20 players who, over the next 8 to 10 weeks, will be playing for their careers.
"Now, they have turned this list over so many times over the last six years it's ridiculous.
"But they [the players] are not going to get away with it.
"When we come to September of this year, they will be marched out that door because of their performances this year and last year, which are way below what is expected.
"There will be a lot of people in there ducking for cover."

So based on his claims there, which of the players at the MFC need to be looking over their shoulders ?? You can divide then up into four categories and I've added in a few names as a starter, more than likely got a lot of them wrong though :

(1) Safe & Part Of The Future
Max Gawn, Jimmy Toumpas, Nathan Jones, Jeremy Howe, Jack Grimes, Jack Viney, Jack Trengove, Colin Garland, Chris Dawes, Mitch Clark,

(2) In Limbo, Still Can Save Themselves
Colin Sylvia, Sam Blease, Jordie McKenzie, Luke Tapscott, Dean Terlich, Dean Kent, Michael Evans, Dom Barry, Michael Evans, Shannon Byrnes,

(3) More Than Likely Will Be Traded
Jack Watts, Mark Jamar,

(4) Gone For All Money & Delisted
Aaron Davey, Cameron Pederson, James Sellar, Neville Jetta, Jake Spencer, David Rodan, Lynden Dunn, Rohan Bail, Tom Gillies,

Couple of players in the wrong groups IMO, Garland a solid defender, Rodan is long gone, Evans has a bit to show etc.

Its going to be a good shake up for the players, they need to justify their position on the team, not just being "potentially" a good player. After all they are going to undergo a rebuild (or change the direction of their current rebuild), but at the end of it they just gotta get rid of the dead wood and take a punt with a youngster who just wants to play footy as opposed to a select few players that just dont have it, whether it be the skills, the hunger or the fitness.

Of the players Melbourne brought in last year mature aged recruits Matt Jones and Dean Terlich have been very good recruits for the Dees this year. Both players will surely get their contracts extended.

Other players like Sellar, Gillies, Dunn, Strauss, Magner, Couch, MacDonald, Spencer and Bail could all be delisted at the end of the year.

Terlich been OK, just needs to be coached to be more purposeful.

Kent is a bit of a goer, 19, shows enough to persevere with.

Garland is limited but disciplined, others need to go ahead of him.

McDonald as safe as anyone.

Rodan should be gone, and I don't think much of Rohan Bail.

What's the story with Barry?

But most players will look better with the shackles released.

Terlich, Kent, Garland, Barry, Evans safe from what I've seen this year. Terlich is a mature aged recruit who earns his spot every week. Kent is a young player who we only just drafted. Garland has been among our best week in week out this year, Evans has been dogged with injury his whole career and will take time. Dom Barry just got to the club, is skinny as anything and will take time,

Dunn, Rodan, Gillies, Sellar, and Spencer should never play AFL ever again.

Watts will only be traded if he asks for it. I think the club rates him highly and would want to keep him. Yes there was the rumour about him being traded last year, but that was backed by Neeld and shot down by the rest of the FD. I doubt it'd happen with Neeld gone now; though Watts has been under a lot of pressure and scrutiny in his time at the club and may want to find a new home. Jamar probably won't be traded as Gawn isn't really ready to take on 1st ruck duties and Spencer is ordinary at best. By midway through next year Gawn should hopefully have taken the no. 1 ruck title (although he's also out of contract at years end too so might leave).
Also I think Davey has moved himself into category 2 with his last few performances. Has been good as a crumber and his disposal is vital to the side. He's one of the few players on the list who are genuinely good kicks. Evans got a new deal this year so will also be staying. Terlich has also been very good this year so will be safe too.

You don't rate Matt Jones?

Dawes? Clark? Hogan? Matt Jones?

Evans gone? Dunn gone? Pederson gone?

Watts traded?

If you're gonna make this a thread, do it properly.

Kent you have right.

Garland is a fantastic defender.

As is McDonald.

Rodan and Bail are gone.

Barry is doing nothing in the 2's but will get next year.

Maybe we should leave it to opposition supporters to make the calls, clearly the Demons people are too supportive & emotive about the players ??

Yeah, Dunn's gone.

Yeah, it would be madness to let Watts go elsewhere without seeing him play under the direction of some other coach.

Terlich also. Plenty of struggling clubs would snap him up or a top team would get him and use him a handy defender.

Jamar...didn't they sign him up on big coin not so long ago?

Same as Watts. You would be mad not to see how he performs under a more effective coach.

Evans tries hard, disposal is terrible though.

Nicholson was a player I wanted Richmond to target, has fallen off the map this year though.

Yeah, it would be madness to let Watts go elsewhere without seeing him play under the direction of some other coach.

Watts has been at the club since being drafted in 2008 so he has had more than just the one coach. Besides, he needs a change of scenery if he is ever going to make it and even then, I don't think he will ever have his heart in it regardless of where he plays.

Contracts mate.

Dunn is contracted til the end of 2014
Pederson til 2016
The Russian is with us til 2015.

I'm all for delisting a few spuds but we can't afford to pay out half our players if we can't afford to pay out a now ex coach on our own

You've left out Hogan, Dawes and Clark in the hope that the new coach will read this, agree with you and give them to Carlton. Lol.

But wouldn't this be accounted for with the AFL's bail-out money ??
