Not a clue? If it is retirement it will be a sad day for Pie fans. Imo has been one of the most underated players around, and has been the heart and soul of the club for many years.

He will announce his retirement. For the end of the year of course. He won't wanna keep fading and fading before he goes out, better to go out on top.

Surely he won't have faded too much by 2008!

We lack grunt in the midfield as is and will surely miss him if he does retire. This could be a press conference for anything so lets not get too carried away just yet

Hopefully he has agreed to terms for another year. Just because Ed's at the press confrence doesn't mean that there'll be a retirement, could be a new sponsorship!

burnsy is playin too much good footy to retire now, theres no point retiring now, we need him in the guts, and at this point in time his body can still handle it, maybe when he becomes plagued with injury or cannot runnout his required duties in the midfield, he should retire, not now tho...

Realistically though, IF he went on, it would only be for ONE more year. I think our REAL push for the flag won't be til 2009. It would be better for the future of our club if Burnsy retires, allowing us to keep one more kid (rather than giving one the chop that deserves to stay). I love Burnsy. He bleeds black and white and is the heart of the club, but I think its time for him to step down. Champion.

Interesting to see Burnsy and Ed holding a press conference together. It does have that retirement announcement feel, either way he is playing excellent footy, has been a champion over his career and it is a win-win situation for both.

If Burnsy plays on 1 more yr, it will give us some invaluable experience in the team with alot of young bodies, if he decides its come to an end, then he will be given a send-off and we will just have to add another youngster onto our list and keep building for the future.

Burns loves doing media work. I'm sure its about something else other than his retirement :)

That's what I was gonna say.

Scotty is often present at media conferences etc. Well spoken, well known yadda, yadda, yadda....

Nothing to be concerned about. He'll retire at the end of 2008...:thumbsu:

Apart from a small snippet at the end of an AFL.com.au article, has anyone heard anything about this news conference today.

In the past when clubs have called news conferences there is usually speculation on the media however I've been listening to a radio at work and checking the net and there is absolutely nothing.

Are we even sure that there is going to be a news conference?

Yeah I was thinking the same, I can't even find mention of it anywhere else on the net where it would usually have something about it. Let's hope we're all getting jittery for nothing!

Nothing happened. Just was a media conference to reveal that if 54K fans get along (55K to be safe) then we will beat the all time record in round 21 currently held by Essendon. Not a bad achievement i guess.
