just returned home after watching the roos butcher the ball all game...im going to do a player anaylysis for you all!

L Hansen- Terrible, when he gets the ball i cringe, constantly looks laconic!

S Thompson- Wasnt a fan of Thompson at start of the year but he has improved so much, easily our best

Josh Gibson- No good today

Scott Mcmahon- We must use him more, can seriously kick and gave his all today

Nathan Grima- Another serviceble effort from Nath, made errors but hes tall and angry

Brady Rawlings- Goodbye Brady, your skills are shocking, the game has past you

Gavin Urquhart- Terrible TERRIBLE! he looks like he doesnt give a stuff, wont put his body over the ball

Firrito- Nowhere near it today, this weather suits his grunt, yet he constantly ********ed around it

Ben Ross- Runs, receives, carries, then kicks, pitty the kick has no penetration

JZ- poor bastard

Drew Petrie- Only bloke who busts his ass for simmo, hes a champion, dont care if he doesnt do much, he is all heart

Cruise Garlett- for some reason he couldnt outmark bock and rutten? i wonder why mr laidley

Corey Jones- one of my all time faves career is over! maybe one more chance in the dry

Aaron Edwards- the supply was terrible, would be a 50 goal forward at saints, cats, crows, dogs

LT- needs a run in the magoos, or the magoos magoos

Hmac- MEH, average game, weather doesnt suit

Simmo- Quality endevour, but cant kick

Andrew Swallow, no kicking penetration

Sam Power- Please please just leave mate, you were terrible, your a girl

Daniel Pratt- Nup, Shocking

Daniel Harris- Thought he was ok today, did abit, got his hands on it and was clean, but too slow for modenrn game

Leigh Harding- Just about finished

Pretty spot on there. Our season is over. Time to play the kids and drop the mediocre. That includes Power, Rawlings, Firrito, Jones, Pratt, Harris and Thomas.

Absolutely. IMO, it would border on negligence if we didn't immediately drop our leading disposal winner on the day.

One of the few players to show clean hands in the early downpour. Delist.

Out of his 22 posessions, 15 were handballs. He had equal 2nd amount of clangers with 4 and an effective disposal of 55% (4th worst behind edwards, garlett and urquhart:mad:) - amazing considering he was handballing so much but he was in contested area so that gives him a bit of leeway. But anyway, if you think that's a good game I'll go crazy. I'm not commenting just on this game I'm commenting on the whole season and the season before that and he hasn't played many good games that's for sure. If you think he can fit into a midfield of Smith, Wells, Anthony, Urquhart, Swallow, Ziebell and probably another good midfield out of the rest and another good midfielder from this years draft. Not to mention we have Harvey and Simpson at the moment (but won't be for long) then fine he deserves his place. But if he doesn't he shouldn't be in the team. Well we're not playing him in the backline are we well maybe on the good old HBF.

H was clearly out best.

Gibbo was all over the Dolphin the first half. My crows mates didn't even know who he was but he was pissing them off big time. The weight of numbers coming into the forward 50 was just too much in the end.

Thomas has TALENT:rolleyes:

Bring back The Wattage ;) we should never have gotten rid of The Boggler either .
In all seriousness we r blooding many youngsters but we need to draft skilled outside midfielders. Our spine is getting there but the midfield is where we r struggling throw in the centreline of a fit Wells, Harvey and Campbell and we would be much better.

For me, one of the most disapointing things this year has been the inability of our players to take the next step in their development. Last year, a lot of guys showed good signs of improvement and things were looking good, but this year has been such a backwards step. Guys like Firrito, Urquart, Hale, Thomas, Pratt, etc. and even Petrie and Harding should be taking the next step and becoming really good or elite players, but instead they have all stalled or moved backwards. I think they have the potential, and shouldn't just be dumped, but a serious review is needed into why this has happened.

IMO we need to take a stand on what is the minimum required skill level to make a useful contribution at AFL level. For me, we can carry one dubiously skilled mid (tagger only) and probably one undersized mid (Garlett/Campbell - given Harvey will retire soon-ish). That means one of Rawling and Power get to stay, but if we keep Simpson for another year (fair enough IMO) then it MUST be the death knell for Harris. Swallow is a 50/50 for me in terms of skill level being counterbalanced by his in-and-under traits.

We surely must never recruit players with dodgy kicking skills, any slight hint of this in scouting reports should be followed by a big red pen/push of the delete button.

The work of guys in the midfield today left me worried about the lack of skills and inability to outnumber the Crows at virtually ANY contest all day. I know we're playing a few kids, but our skills coaching and fitness coaching has to be questioned. A lot.

Street fighter, I wonder if players failing to take the next step this year has been due to a change in our strategy in the off season around "power running", whatever that is. It just seems our midfield doesn't have the running capacity of other teams (which hurts double given they don't have the hand/foot skills of other teams either). It begs the question "what do they have that other teams don't have?". Injuries?

Weve got to persist and take a long term view.........these kids will get better...

On guys like Rawlings / Harro / CJ / Power........we wont be contesting a flag for probably at least 3 years........we need to start building for that....I dont see these guys in the mix..........they are not tradeable....if they stay on the list then they back fill for injuries....

Have no fear, when/if the media stop buying the line that injuries have kept us out of the 8, Laidley WILL deflect focus onto the fitness coaching.
