How's Sean Russling going?

I used to do athletics with him, he was a gun. Pretty much best in the state at every event bar long distance. Never saw him play footy though so how's he going is he playing for williamstown or what?

Rusling is doing very well at VFL level. Playing at full forward and doing well considering the delivery by the Willi is almost sub-VFL standard!

He is an outstanding mark and is Chris Tarrant fast on the lead. Good kick too.

Y is he not playing for the Hapless magpies then????
He's only played three VFL games and three VFL reserves games after coming from high school footy.

Honestly, I think he's ready, but at this stage, there's no need to rush them and it's probably wise to not include all of the first years at once. We've introduced a first year player five times this year, all staggered over time. We even dropped Iacobucci to allow for Egan.

I watched the Williamstown match last week, and Rusling was playing some pretty good footy.

He was working very hard in the forward line, and his kicking & marking is at top rate for a kid at his age.

Let's hope he can make his debut soon.

You obviously know him well, you can't even spell his name.
Give shrapnel a break.

Mick sees him as a permanent full forward with tazz moving to the flanks.
Where'd you hear that?

He looked pretty good as a full forward on Saturday. He lead hard and fast. He even doubled back on the lead well, which for Willi meant he lead out of their kicking range!

Maybe the Shotgun shool of fast small full forwards is set to take off! Not that I'm saying Ruz is small, but 6' 2" or so ain't exactly Salmon-esque!!

Good move mick!

Tarrant is not a full forward, and he shouldn't be playing there period..

I know it's early, but.. can Rusling kick 100 goals in a season playing at full forward? :D

I am officially on this kid's bandwagon.

Don't want to jump the gun but the 2004 draft batch look a sensational bunch.

Yet they copped a bit for taking Rusling that high. Thought he was a bit of a reach even though Essendon were apparently keen on him as well.

Could it be.....a steal?

hmm would full foward? I would think he'd be more of a midfielder, half forward flanker like davey and lovett considering his speed.

Think that might be a little optimistic considering he hasn't even played a game, we don't even know for sure what position he will be playing and full forwards rarely kick massive bags of goals like the Dunstall, Ablett, Lockett days. I just hope when he gets to the top level he makes a contest.

Crackers Keenan mention in some post draft article on that this Rusling was the next Wayne Carey. Now this opinion is a bit over the top and I laughed saying Rusling will not even play key position. However he has very sticky hands. Someone mentioned around draft time that his best game was when he got 40 odd possesions tagging one of the top draft prospects, even though it was at school level.

Yeah, not sure about the 40 possession part but I'm pretty sure I remember reading that was the game he played on Lance Franklin, who said Rusling was the hardest opponent he'd played on.

Dermie said the same thing about Aaron James
