SEASON 2024

Bottom 2 to be relegated with Narre out at seasons end to SFNL would be my guess as to what will eventuate.
I would guess that is the case as well although I keep hearing Narre Warren are very happy in the league and they don't think Southern is a good fit due to netball not being played in conjunction with football.

Both Berwick and Beaconsfield have experienced lots of problems due to the separation of both sports. Berwick especially has seen many people leave the club due to the relationship ending with netball and football being in different leagues. As a result Berwick has experienced a player shortage this year.

Officer won't be bottom 3 based on their performance on the weekend against a very good side.

But The pieces about this which are pure outer east.

AT THE END OF 2023

- "We are doing this to Future proof the Premier Division" and the potential (likelihood) of teams leaving our competition moving into 2025.

- Then using this to Justify Harpooning Officer back into the division off not making finals when they threatened to leave to Southern.

So Gembrook or Monbulk (for example) 2023/24/25 prioritise youth and trying to build something sustainable in the division. Over time they hope to end up with a core of talent that they believe can challenge the better sides and then invest in areas of the ground to help make that a reality.

But in executing on this they come 3rd bottom in 2024 and get a$$hol3d back to a division they want nothing to do with and only told about it once the season had started.

A wise man once said that when someone shows you what they are ...... Believe them

Outer East = ????

Some really poor timing from the league around this and with consideration to the comprised draw in Premier league where we have 18 rounds split over 12 teams. Some of the likely bottom half teams have some real inequity when it comes to playing prior year top 2/3.

Any chance that any traditional YVMDFL clubs could threaten to move to the EFNL if they look set to be relegated?

This whole ahem, 'merger', between the SEFNL and the YVMDFL has been disaster after disaster and it seems far from over yet.
I can't recall how it all began - did the Yarra Valley clubs actually get a chance to vote in the South East clubs or was it a case of "here they are, guys!"

EFNL do have 4 x 10 then a 1 x 7 so I don't think they would say no to 3 extra clubs which would give a neat 5 grades of 10.

I said ages ago that I could see footy going the way of YVCA cricket and being absorbed into EFNL with effectively 2 grades that were essentially "YV only" although clubs like Wandin / Woori / Olinda could elect to play higher as long as they coped with a bit of extra travel.

If you bit the bullet and excluded Yea, Alex, Narre, Berwick Springs, Pakky you might only need 1 extra grade. ( 3 go into D4 and D5 would be ex OE). Some old rivalries could be revived with Coldstream / Silvan / Sth Belgrave / FTG / UFTG.

Consolidate just the 1 head office, 1 marketing team, 1 media / communications team. Better sponsorship leverage through larger numbers. Combine the umpiring group as one. OE juniors could remain as they are. D5 could have Sat netball.

Coming back to EFNL at start of last season was a breath of fresh air and loving the high standard of footy , a very organised competition and extremely high standard of umpire coaching.

Interesting draw when you consider Upwey finished 5th last year on 34pts and Mt Evelyn finished 6th on 32pts (so no finals) yet Upwey this year play Wandin/Narre/Woori collectively 6 times and Mt Evelyn play the same 3 only 4 times.. Essentially an 8 pt breather for Upwey!!!

I’m not sure how long it will take, but I think you’ll eventually see Alexandra, Broadford and Yea eventually move north to the KDL, their junior teams currently play in the Goulburn Murray Region.

Broadford sitting out this year shows how desperate they are to move.

Yea has just come out of recess and needs some stability. Heading north may help their recruiting prospects.

After todays results are junction and powelly better off joining forces
Or are Healesville to strong for D1,would expect a few more 1 sided games in D1 but have no answer to how to even out as D1 and D2 have merged.Problems of country leagues especially further out of metro Melbourne, have a look at the percentages of some of the clubs later in the season who are down low on their leagues ladders.

Round 2 blokes playing two games that haven’t played in years. Broadford were in better shape.

does anyone know what happened at Warby yesterday? Last quarter was called off from what I’m hearing?
I’ve been told Warburton playing coach jumped off the ground and elbowed a young Alex player. Very ugly act from all reports with ambulance being called and game called off. From what I’ve heard will be minimum 8 week holiday for the coward.

Oh wow! That’s bloody horrible! Life ban seems like it would be a more appropriate punishment if that’s the case!

Remove the Mayo and extreme exaggeration and it’s much closer to the truth.

Guess it’s all some have got to hold onto these days.

Should work in media

What part is exaggerated?
Must have been bad if the game was called off?

Not necessarily as a lot is a precautionary measure. Talking with the Alex boys he wanted to get up but was told not too which is fair enough.
The ambulance being called was precautionary also and once it’s called they has to wait.

We will see what tribunal results are come Tuesday and judge from there. It will be an extensive holiday for from all reports one of the cheapest acts seen on a field for some time in the outer east

Mmmmm not sure that’s true from the actual people that were there.

But carry on remember last year a player got 3 weeks for far worse appealed got found guilty and fined.

It’s sounds like you are connected or even are the individual who committed this heinous act….
