SEASON 2024

Powelltown have only themselves to blame for this. All they needed to do was look at the rap sheet of the players they were bringing in and their history.

Also the committee must of put their heads in the sand with the issues off field right on the eve of the season starting and as it went on.

Poison chalice of a coaching job.

Yes not sure how the finger is pointed at the coach all the time in these situations. The president or senior club members surely needed to say I think we’ve gone well and truely over the limit here. Run away train.

That Brock Castree is sure making a name for himself in his little time in Victoria, Reported a no show at Powelltowns presentation night after chasing bigger dollars mid season and leaving the Basin fc mid year. Now obviously linked to coldstream with baylis and co

My old friend involved at coldy told me today his name around there club isn't circling too well and he hasn't even stepped foot in the door

I can see his name back in S/A before round 1 book mark it, these types are found out quick these days

Held The Basin ransom mid season after a receiving an unmatchable offer mid year from Powelltown. Don’t know who’s more to blame to be fair.

Don’t blame him, why would he want to stay?

KING tig didnt you guys sign him, seems now that Bayliss has left the bottom has dropped out of the place
Have you named a coach as yet?

Ok, I get it’s a forum and there’s plenty of muck thrown from the cheap seats

But … there has to be line
The attacks on named individuals from anonymous posts is pretty poor in my opinion.
It’s a game of footy that we all
Enjoy and are invested In, but we’re all humans first
Well said Brendan although fellows like Castree build a rod for their own back and therefore get singled out. Moving clubs mid season due to receiving a better offer after making a longer term commitment to the original club and then placing comments on social media highlighting his movement to a third club in less than 12 months isn't particularly smart.

And clubs fall for this caper....

Olinda have
The new senior coach at Olinda FC FNC is Dylan Wilson. Returning to the club after a stint at Wy Yung in the East Gippsland FNL including a premiership this year.

A good (and astute) appointment and will develop into an excellent coach. Will need some time and good support but the club is looking into the future with a young playing list and he will be a good one to lead the group forward.

The senior coach appointment announcement at Monbulk FNC is not far away. Another good choice I am told. Monbulk seems to always get it right.

I don’t know if he attempted to hold The Basin to random but they were more than happy to see him leave.

He had exhibited some extremely poor behaviour.

As for Powelltown, every second recruiting announcement you see on social media is a player from there. Wonder how many they’ll have left.

Are Powelly going to have a team in 2024
New Clubrooms but no coach and players leaving every day
How many is that have now departed either by retiring or going to other clubs, 15-16 most who played in their senior team.
Guess that’s what happens when the $$$$ move out

What’s the solution?

ChristianBoy not sure, that’s ups to the Powelltown hierarchy to work out.
Guess though all the talk about such a great culture is why players went there may not be as accurate now that the $$$$ have dried up or left
Because of there demographics they obviously have to outsource.... hence spend money....now with the way the league is structuring the competition...they haven't been dealt very good cards.

The jouneyman so it’s the leagues fault??
All clubs spend $$$, that’s what the salary cap (for what it’s worth) is all about
Why are so many players leaving Powelltown, seems strange to be basically losing a whole senior side because the coach has left
Surely the same $$$$ would be there

Bit odd they chose to distant themselves from the closest junior clubs.

What cards have they been dealt?

It is a problem everywhere, but particularly in the country given the concentration of population in the city.

You simply have no supply of players.

Much bigger places than Powelltown also deal with it.

What does the club do? If a coach comes along and will bring 20 players with him, you cannot knock it back.

The issue of course is that once he leaves, the players will too.

Not much you can do except try to find another coach who will do the same.
