Selwood: Out (in more than one way)

Selwood has a history of cheapshots behind the play. He belted Guerra not so long ago and now has hit Raines when he wasn't looking. Can't believe he got off to be honest.

Wouldn't surprise me if Selwood receives a free kick for the next person he belts behind the play.

Yeah, inconsistency tends to do that.

As for sooking. We'll see how a few Geelong supporters respond regarding Raines being cleared of a bump considering they tried to argue that the diabolical Andrew Raines tried to line him up and take off his head.

I guess Raines has been punished enough in life.Having to play for Richmond and at Brisbane with a coach who has NFI,then it's only fair the MRP show him some sympathy on the bump.

Indeed, I'm glad Raines only got one but I have no idea how Selwood got off. He threw the first punch (or slap), that should count for something. How many weeks would Selwood have received if Raines had hit the deck after being hit instead of stiking back?

If Raines hit the deck Selwood WOULD have got weeks.. ala Scarlett/Ballantyne.. The impact of Selwood's 'tap' was below that required for report.. Same deal with Ivan Maric..

Re: Selwood gets off!

That stinks of favourites.

I hope people take to just hitting him in the face now at random intervals during the game. After all, completely legal....

Personally glad to see Raines get off for the bump. He looked to be playing the ball to me. As you said, hopefully it's a good sign for the game given some of the suspensions handed out in recent times.

Re: Selwood gets off!

what a crock of sh!t call

just because raines doesn't hit the deck sooking when he was struck, like selwood did, the blow isn't deemed forceful enough to attract a penalty? laughable

Re: Selwood gets off!

Surprising. Although I think it was pretty soft, I thought if you hit a bloke in the face off the ball you'd at least get one. Tough for Raines, retaliating and getting three (with early plea, one)...

Ok. Selwood didnt start it, Raines did but can we can the bashing and biased crap? The MRP was lenient this week, harsh last week.
We should be complaining about the inconsistancy of the damn thing instead of trying to play "snipe opposition teams".

Re: Selwood gets off!

Can't Raines argue self-defence or something? Selwood hit him first and Raines just retaliated.

I know they fine instigators of a brawl more than the person who fights back so how can they suspend Raines and not Selwood? Hypocrisy.

Re: Selwood gets off!

It was a like-for-like incident. You either let them both off or suspend them both, it's that simple.

Personally, I'd prefer see both guys get off. It wasn't much more than a scuffle, next to nothing in it.

Its just the inconsistency that drives me bonkers.

Re: Selwood gets off!

Absurd. Only difference between the two was Selwood going to ground as is his way. Good footballer but jeez he annoys me.

Re: Selwood gets off!

lol, and people thought Goodes was a protected species by umpires and tribunal a few years ago, he ain't got nothing on Selwood. Shocking call.
