followed them thru thin...
It was on the news that Nathan Brown did not train or attend the meeting where 10 senior players, quite rightly in my opinion, told the board that it would not have been right for Wallace to coach them on Saturday. I hope this doesn't reflect any split in the players' ranks, we badly now need to pull together and put this behind us.

I think Chris Grant has been fantastic in this. Seeing him on the news last night I thought he was really dignified and said all the right things even though Terry Wallace has been less than supportive of Grant over the past few weeks and really hung him out to dry when Grant had a shocker v Melb. Today he also did very well, avoided criticising Wallace directly but also raised the valid point that if Wallace has those views and opinions why coach at all? what message does it give the group..."You're basically not good enough" comes through to me. Grant also made the point that the club would be around for a lot longer and was bigger than Wallace. A class performance.

It would have been a farce if he coached on the weekend and it is a relief to me...I do value the service he has given the club and the professionalism he has introduced but the whole manner of his leaving has left a sour taste. I would not like to have seen him booed but quite honestly could not have clapped him off either. As for the guff about his last 3/4 time address with the guys he has gone into battle with...please! "Give me 100 per cent fellas..even though I've only been able to manage 50 %."

I thought the meeting was for the senior players or how they put it on the news, the 'over 25's'. Browny is still 24 and probably wasn't supposed to be at the meeting. They showed him arriving at the club...but maybe that was yesterday's footage. It was also reported that the fact that he didn't train didn't have anything to do with Terry Wallace...he might be injured.

Stiffness in his back was the official reason.

Worrying though.

Very proud of the players, how naive was Wallace.

Tells the media he doesn't have the fire in the belly and can't take this group any further, than expects a spend off last round.

What a hypocrite. Why would the players listen to him.

Now the players can prove him wrong.

I bet Smorgon would have loved to initially say if you don't want to coach we don't want you this week. The players did the board a favour.

I wouldn't worry about Nathan Brown, he was part of the senior group who voted Wallace out (as I suggested yesterday that they would ;) ).

Apparently he didn't train because of a "sore back" but my guess is that he was so upset with Plough that he couldn't face training with him.

I'm very proud of the way the boys have stuck together - let's see if it translates to a good performance on the field on Saturday.

Yeah it's true that Plough is Browny's mate, but its not like he is Brown's only mate at the club. I think he cares more about the collective relationship he has with his teammates then his relationship with Judas.
