Young Reece McNally might have to step up to ruck and Clohesy and Doherty are good subs for the Hards boys
ckma

We have a ruckman , same size as Bull but probably a bit more agile, every one is also forgetting Ridley, McGlashan, Kelly (Dylan)Carr. The ruckman will more than cover the loss of Bull

Re: Mallee FL - Season 2011
ouyen had a praccy against mildura on saturday and got up over 6 quarters by a goal or 2.

If Mildura can't beat Ouyen then they are going to be in for a long year.
The final four is already set with Robinvale, Irymple, South and Wenty, they will be 10 goals better and more than the bottom 4 this year

Apparently last 2 quaters of the Mildura ouyen match was very tight, and Mildura you could say had their U20's side on the field. 3inarow, youve jumped the gun mate.

How did all the practice matches go on the weekend for all the clubs that had them!!!Any standouts, any kids that look the goods and what are the predictions for the year?

Delray the swallows had a game didnt they?
How did they go?
Did you get a kick?

ouyen also lost their 2 main backmen in the 2nd another didnt play along with 3 or 4 others out of starting 22 so i think mildura might still struggle unless they have some guns to come in

Half your side will be under 20 this year so no excusses. You were playing Ouyen who I would say would of had a lot of 16/17 year olds running around with old blokes.
You have great kids and will have a great team in 2 to 3 years but this year you will struggle up against the bigger stronger teams.

I dont know about you but Imps looked to have struggled with their losses over summer, these players you mentions didnt go all that flash on friday night and to only kick 2 goals in 80 mins of footy with only petrie to come back in looks very bleak yr.

Also heard the Coach speak at the half time address, could hardly put 2 words together and didnt even know the name of the players in his team in one instance.

Petrie and the coach, it's only early, but I tend to agree.
I guess all clubs need to rebuild at some stage
They've missed the finals 3 times in 25 years, 2000 2001 2006.

which millewa clubs are you referring to?

In most instances you will find that players who head out to the bush to have a kick do so as it is a bit more laidback eg not as stringent in training 2-3 times a week, and youll find that a lot of blokes have young families, which makes it hard to commit to SFL.

Also the fact that it is a solo team per club benefits some people as they arent mixing between the seniors and ressies cultures. In my experience I have found that most SFL clubs only care about the 'Ones' players and especially the 'Ones recruits from outa town'.

Millewa clubs may use $ as a bargaining tool (mainly to sway the recruit away from their SFL club) but hopefully it is at a relevant market value. And yes I do agree with you that this shouldnt be the tactic to woo younger players, unless they fall under the two points above.

In closing, aside from the clubs that are using $ to attract young players, if the SFL looked after their players across the 3 grades, we probably wouldnt be having this arguement.

Look forward to your response

hammo - meringur

Cant argue with that mate.

Cardross and Gol Gol,(there may be others??) both kids are under 18s as i said so they dont have a young family your 2nd point re clubs only caring about "ones" one of the boys has already played ones and I'm sure the other would be in seniors this year if he stays at his SFL club.
finally what is relevent market value for a 17 year old????

This is my argument no one else agree with me????

Apparently he has had some time off the track of late but isn't too far off a return. Imps will be a much better side with him in it. Not many defences will be able to stop him and Petrie. By all reports he's doing a pretty good job with the list he has.

Hey coach, I wouldn't talk yourself up until you get a kick up here. Maybe it's not in yours or Imps best interests for you to post on bigfooty:p

Greetings gentlemen. Good to be back with you after a brief hiatus. Popped down to QP over the past couple of weeks to see what's ahead of us in 2011. Liked what I've seen from Harris, Matthews, Brady and Jackson. Geez JJ is looking fit!

Anything interesting come out of the preseason games?
It looks like a tough year again for the tigers. They looked pretty big on sat.night, but not too flash if the score against Merbein was anything to go by.
Imps will need to have a few recruits hiding in the wings if they're to do anything this year.
Merbein will win a few more this year which could see Imps or Red Cliffs fighting it out for the wooden spoon.
The bottom four for this year could be (not in order) Mildura, Imps, Merbein and Red Cliffs. South would have to do better than Sat. night (but they did have a few out) or they may be replaced by Mildura in the top four.

Reddy weren't all that bad sat probably missing 5 or 6 I can see then being better then last season and I think between merbein south and mildura will be close I think will have more of an indication after round 4 or 5

Wenty by 15 points. Merbein by 20 points. Irymple 10 goals. Robinvale, hope not but 15 goals

pretty good round 1 except if you're an Imps supporter, although coming up against a highly fancied Irymple outfit wouldn't have been the ideal start. Merbein seem to be able to dig deep when they have to, South have a good even spread of players and the Robinvale machine just rolls on.

Long year for Imps, we all knew that. The kids were good though, Mee, Darby, Keating, Lynch, all under 18....Merbien and Red Cliffs surprised, even if RC did'nt win. Are Mildura overrated? Good numbers pre season but substance? Time will tell. I still believe thay are better then Merbs. Probably just a hiccup....
Irymple looked in control against a young Imps side. Still have D train to come back as well. South / Wenty game looked like the highlight of the weekend. 2 very skillful sides. Fitzgerald, Chilton, Harris, Fox all guns....
This weekend......
South to continue Imps pain...+ 80 points (hope not)
Irymple to bring Merbs back to earth (only just)
Wentworth to crush Red Cliffs
Robinvale far too good for Mildura
