Fact is that the senior group fails to deliver with what the junior system develops. The U18 record is as good as any in country Vic, disciplined, hard, skilled, team orientated footballers. I've seen it first hand, and then.....nothing. It's funny that the U18s is actually part of the Senior club. I would hope they are picking the brains of Parr and Laynon to get something outta that group. Great to see Mitch Rogerson and Henry Kerr in the best on the weekend, two kids who should play in the Demons next flag. Keep it coming Yaaablett, who's in your inter league squad?

The highlighted bit - If only you knew, PM me, more than happy to give you some background.

Mitch and Henry are going well, as are the other 16 or so junior products in the team every week to go with the dozen in the reserves developing nicely. I'm still waiting on this long list of under 18's that should be in the team now?

Right, we're still gonna bang on about this...ok. R.Chirgwin, C.Gunn, H.Gunn, L.Stanbrook, C.Curran, J.Bates, A.Arden, D.Slorach, L.Martin, R.Connell, I've gotta stop, this is pointless, I could go on for hours.
Hands down the best junior system I've ever seen at Mildura, Cosi Costa and those blokes should be proud of the footballers they have produced, and the seniors have returned bugger all. Just sayin......

As stated earlier 3 or 4 players off a very good side. So its about time they became proactive and recruited the said 3 or 4 players.
I would say that the current stand out juniors in the senior side i.e. Mitch and Henry will be off next year or the year after.

Mildura have never recruited well. Apart from the 07 flag yr when they brought in anstey obree matthews (returning junior) and possibly a few others they havent done well to bring talented players to the club. Tucker was a bust an oconnor got injured so they have relied heavy on juniors. They havent had a dominte ruck since decket no chf since cardew and no real midfield depth since 08. The juniors coming through haven't been very big more like wings flanks. The kids above left because some were unhappy, uni/relocation or just couldn't make the senior team regularly. So by the looks of it if you don't recruit well To compliment what you have then your junior program can only take you so far.

Goodonya Rodman. Should be a cracker with Murray including Lovett-Murray, Brad Dick and Cupido. Sunraysia's mids will have to at their best to stop the supply to Cupido, he is capable of kicking 10+. I don't know how much of a loss Jackson will be, with the inclusions of Cam Mackenzie, Nick Mee and Dylan Darby (if they all play). I'm hoping the Pezz kicks a bag. I am concerned about our talks though, who will play in the ruck?(starting and second). The stage is set for John Coleman to put on a clinic as well. Callahan mops up, quick hands to Eaton, 30mt bullet to Mackenzie on the wing. Turns onto his left and fires to Coleman who outmarks a couple at CHF. Spots Pezz in the pocket, goes there, spoilt and hits the ground, cleans it up and fires at the goals. Pezz runs the boundary with the finger in the air. Sounds good to me.
Wait for it, it'll happen....

Cam McKenzie had scans on his knee, may need a reco hopefully not.
Raiti & Jensen im hearing as ruck combo. Eaton a gun in any league.

Jeez I hope Mackenzie's knee is ok, not for inter league but for his and irymple's season. You could almost call up the younger McNally as a ruck, I like Raiti but dunno about Jenson. Your right about Eaton, dead set jet.

Backs: Clayton Taylor (Robinvasle), Brendan Rhodes (Imperials) Simon Callahan (Imperials)

Half backs: Sean Logie (South Mildura); Justin Frankel (Merbein), Mathew Boyd (Imperials)

Centres: Luke Sicker (Imperials); Brad Eaton (Irymple); Nick Mee (Imperials)

Half forwards: John Coleman (Imperials), Jarrod McNally (Imperials); Shannon Motlop (Red Cliffs);

Forwards: Nick Pezzanitti (Irymple); Troy Moncur (Robinvale), Carmelo Lando (Wentworth)

Rucks: Justin Raiti (South Mildura); Ryan Hards (Imperials), Brad Hards (Imperials).

Interrchange: Nick Jenson (Wentworth), Chris Morrell (Mildura); Josh Dawson (Mildura), Jprdan Bates (Imperials), Jesse Vallance (Mildura).

Emergencies: Kieren Bell (Red Cliffs), Dylan Derby (Imperials)

Eaton wont play after leaving training with hamstring again. Always another 1 or 2 who pull out with injury concerns. Seems to be fairly young without seasoned stars of past like Alvey, Falvo, Deangelis, Jackson etc. Very Imps heavy. Not good enough for my liking if Murray comes at full strength. Thoughts?

Agree, a bit young for my liking. Losing Eaton is a big blow, we really don't have a clearance expert, R.Hards is down on form and really only D.Darby in the wings as a clearance player. We can only hope that the imps boys impress on the rest of the team on how to play on No1 and even that may not be enough. If Eaton has been named, are they hoping he'll get up?

So after all your comments that's it? Chris Curran - Great young guy, was given some senior opportunities, wasn't prepared to play two's, went to Bambill, don't think he is playing anywhere now. Riley and Warwick left after some issues. Robbo played in the first 2 rounds this year, missed round 3 with illness. Jack is at Uni in Melbourne, Marcus is overseas and Damon has actually played every game in the seniors this year and is playing some good footy. If that's it then it probably shows the opposite wouldn't it?
Cam Robertson has 2 clearances knocked back, trying to go to WW?

Well schnail the interleague is done and dusted for another 12 months and the boys from Sunraysia will need to regroup. Young team and should be closer next year. ????

But it's back to the real stuff this week and would be interested in your take on the second half of the year. Green men this week take on the Demons who have been banged on in this thread for lack of senior success . Can they get close the the reigning premiers and what's ya take on the Swallows. Real contenders of just in the mix?

Interesting article regarding the gap between the so called have and have nots in the Sunny Daily, interested to get everyone's thoughts. I don't think the isolation was a concern for Wentworth or Robinvale when they were winning flags, or Merbein in the early 2000s, or red cliffs for that matter. Imps and red cliffs were an on field basket case just 3 years ago and they've turned around through excellent off field direction.

Reason for leaving, and reason for knock back?

I believe that the only valid reasons to knock back a clearance are... (from VCFL Handbook )

A refusal can only occur where a Club can
substantiate that the player:
(a) Is a Contracted Player; and/or
(b) Is indebted to the Club; and/or
(c) Is in possession of Club property (e.g.
jumper) that needs to be returned; and/or
(d) Wishes to withdraw their Transfer
application. Clubs can only submit this as
a reason for refusal where the player has
signed the Player Withdrawal of Transfer
Form in accordance with Regulation 3.3
below.

In Cams case wasn't he off to Merbein this year initially? Seems he just isn't happy at Mildura.

Sounds as though Merbein FC have read the handbook many times and it explains why they embarrassingly signed up Reserves to contracts last year because the law is the law and they intend to use it however narrow minded it is. Now they won't let a couple leave even though 1 has and never would play seniors whilst the other has played 1 game in the 4 years he was there and just wants to play with his brother at his family club.

Hey Schnail a couple of local issues need to be put in this arena. Firstly would be interested in your debrief on where the S.F.L. Is at. Seems as though there is a huge gap between the top two sides and the rest. Understand success and gun teams can be cyclic but it's never good for a country comp to be so one sided. And the next issue for me is just totally so dumb it defies logic. I hear the pioneers are playing the ACT Rams at South this weekend. But you would have had to be on the vapour trail to even know this was on. What, was is a secret? And it's being played as a curtain raiser to the reserves game !!! Really. Here was a chance to show case the TAC to local potential parents whose kids might be interested in the system over the next five or so years and given the scathing comments of Local Sports commentator Bill Sauer and the response in defence from Sunraysia Pioneers rep, Trevor Ryan. This would have been the perfect opportunity for the pioneers stewards to promote their product. It's almost been done in a vacuum and to think they have relegated this game to a reserves curtains raiser is devoid of logic. Why wouldn't this have been a showcase of local talent with heaps of local kids in the the game from both sides and schedule the game with promotion and media etc at a time when all of Sunraysia's football people could have supported their club lads. How good with this have been on Friday night or Sunday when no other local teams were on the park. Just another wasted opportunity from what is seriously developing into footballing unthink. Tell me I am wrong

Vander, yes there appears to be a gap in the SFL at the moment, however South haven't played Imps yet so we'll find out soon enough of there are 3 instead of 2 at the pointy end. South do have a good percentage so they are holding their own, the do play Red Cliffs this weekend which will be a good test for both sides. It is cyclic though, Souths juniors are coming through strong, hopefully for their sake some of them stick around. The Wenty Roos are just off the pace a little, with Merbein and Robinvale struggling. They play well in patches and have some young jets, just need to string some quarters together. I am perplexed that the Pioneers would be playing before the South reserves on Saturday at No3. Surely not, they would want to showcase the talented few in a standalone game as you described. I will go for a look though, however they would not want to charge a gate fee for those wanting to have a look at the TAC Cup guys. Only found out about the game today, I would have expected a little more advertising, although the draw was released earlier in the year with Mildura as the venue. All very strange......I'd love to tell you you're wrong but on this occasion, if it plays out this way, you're on the money.

Strange to say the least, these guys aren't going to be the difference in the ones winning or losing any given week

pretty quiet on here.

whats everyones thoughts. http://www.sunraysiadaily.com.au/story/2363735/lovett-links-with-tigers/?cs=1637

will moncur leave reddy in similar shape to how robinvale is now in? where is all the cash coming from. has to be at least 6 on big coin now. how do the vets like faulkhead etc feel about everything?
I like the idea of attracting and securing ex-AFL players to the SFL, however there may be the legacy of what happened at Robinvale. Young fellas should get excited by playing against guys like Motlop, Lovett, Eaton, Alvey, etc. The cash is the concern of the club and it's president, I'm sure he won't want to walk away in a few years time with the club on the financial brink of extinction. All teams go through it, Merbein in the early 2000's, Robinvale, South do a lesser degree. If it's managed and advertised in the right manner, it could also be a boom for opposition clubs. Hit the media outlets (radio, papers, tv) and advertise to the masses that their clubs are playing against these guys. They might get a few more through the gates. Can't speak for Faulkhead, etc. about how they fell, I woulda thought they could have left prior to the recent signing if they weren't happy....

Red Cliffs Players Points

2013 2014

John Jackson (From Rob) 5 4

Shannon Motlop (From Rob) 5 4

Jimmy Kennedy (From Sth) 5 4

Bradley Campbell (Major League) 4 3

Andrew Lovett (Major League) - 4

Daniel Motlop (???) - 4

Marlon Motlop (???) - 4

Darren Brown (Major League) - 4

Keelan Fejo (Major League) - 4

Joseph Wright (From Merb) - 5

Total 40

Even without the 2 Motlops and Joey Wright (Reserves) it still leaves them at 27 points..... Its not Red Cliffs issue really, more so the league as they are the people policing this.....

The red cliffs strategy has every intention of winning a premiership the best that money can buy. Shame for the good young colts who have come through the juniors over the past couple of years. Couldn't blame the, if they wanted to move on.
