Both are arguably having their breakout years at their respective clubs. Port and Adelaide fans have been comparing their progress for the last 2 or 3 years and finding them hard to split. What's the opinion of the wider world?

For myself, perhaps it's biased, but especially after the last month of football, I have to go with Burgoyne. Tearing it up now Choco's finally put him in the midfield, somewhere 'Stiffy' still seems to lack the motor to play most of a game. That's not to say I wouldn't want him at Port as well.

I don't think its even close any more. Shaun.

I can't stand the burgoyne's (mostly peter) and i really like Graham Johncock, but Shaun is the better player by ALOT.

I think Johncock's an absolute gun and been a huge factor in the Crows' strong form this season.

But you'd have to take Burgoyne - looks like he could be one of the absolute elite players of the comp. It's just a matter of consistency now - and learning to overcome really hard tags (which are sure to come thick and fast from now on).

It would have been interesting to see how this poll would have gone about three weeks ago (pre Burgoyne's brilliant match against the Weagles at least).

Burogyne without a doubt.

P.S. Why is it that when someone from club x (pun intended) posts a poll, they generally weigh it in a fashion that suits their outcome? Hmmmm.

Would have to go with burgoyne he has more plusses has done it both down back and in the midfield wheres stiffy has only really done it down back but not saying he wouldn't be able to do it if put on the ball more regularly i would go with him for toughness b4 burgoyne but overall shaun would get the nod has been outstanding this year

He did - in a premiership side.
um yea, but not as well as Johncock on a consistant basis. I reckon if you chucked Johncock on the ball he could almost do the same amount of damage as Burgoyne, anyways they both play their respective roles very well.

This poll is probably too one sided to give the closeness of the two players justice.

Id take Johncock anyway, then again im clearly biased. Its telling though that Graham has broken into the Fox League teams All Australian side at the half way side, perhaps the rest of the footballing world is starting to wake up to what we adelaide fans have always known?

For what its worth, Burgoyne is a gun and I'd take him over Johncock (just), but to say it isn't close is just plain naive.

Personally I regard Shaun as equal if not in front of Johncock as a defender. Both read the ball well down back, and have many similar attributes.

One thing that is beginning to set Shaun apart though is his roles on ball - this year on a more consistant basis but in patches towards the end of last year - where some of his games in the middle were as good as you get - its something johncock probably hasn't done to date.

Johncock doesn't play on ball, so its tilted in Burgoyne's favour right there.

And especially with the WCE game in mind. Great way to make a pointless, confidence boosting poll.

Biggest load of **** poll. They both play different roles. Over their careers Stiffy has been far more important than Burgoyne. It's only been this year, hell even just the last month or so that Burgoyne has caught the eye of some people. Didn't even hear his name mentioned last year.

What's the bet more than half of the people who voted for Burgoyne voted for him purely because of his Dream Team points. Burgoyne, although he does do some good things around the ground, always gets cheaps disposals which of course contribute to DT. Stiff's work in defence has been nothing short of superb this year and don't be surprised if he gets an AA selection.

If there was no such thing as Dream Team, Stiffy would be well clear, and that's where my vote goes.

Wow, you're an idiot.

Shann Burgoyne.

People say its only cause of his last couple of games. I beg to differ. Port fans know he has been class for a few years. Kicked goals in his first year. Can remember him kicking 5 in a quarter in half against the dogs at footy park.

Then went down back and played a crucial role in our premiership and shut down some great players. Played a good GF game.

Now has moved to the midfield and has been one of our best all year. I think he can get a lot better as well where as Johncock has reached his best imo.

How exactly did you come to that conclusion?

Johncocks improved in every year hes been at the Crows, and this year is no exception.
