surely common sense will prevail. nothing wrong with the bump at all. had the elbow been raised or buddy jumped in the air at point of contact then i would agree with the charge. since none of those things happened i cant see the problem with it. if cousins didnt fumble the ball none of this would have happened.

No way should be get suspended. Didn't lead with the elbow ala Maxwell, didn't attempt to hit him in the head, no malice or harm intended. The only thing they can even try and justify is recklessness, and even for that at worst he should get a reprimand. Ridiculous decision, bloody hell our game is really getting too soft.

I can't believe at how much common sense is being spoken in this thread by opposition fans. There's more trolling over this incident on the 'main board'.

So called main board is much like this suspension....soft.

No way, I think that was very ordinary to be given a 2 match ban for regardless of early plea ect.. Buddy has a good record and there was no malice in it from what I Viewed? Hawks have every right to feel screwed over with that decision, especially with such an important game looming up. Considering Uber Thug Hall got off of this to play in a GF

HA! even gehrig getting in on the act

was going to post a youtube of the same thing hodgepodge posted ... found that to be flipping hilarious.

you could see the fear in the eyes of Cuz. Both players have a lot in common. I am sure they will get together after the game and take their minds off things

To give you some honest feedback on this.......this case should never have got to the
bl00dy tribunal in the first place, but if his appeal fails then I have lost all hope for this game.
I honestly shudder to think what this game will look like in 10 years time, we are that close to a hybrid of touch footy and basketball it's not funny!!
With constant changes in rules and interpretations, not only has become so frustrating to watch a game because some pin head umpire persists on blowing his whistle, but players that are physically bigger and stronger are now at a huge disadvantage.

What does the AFL want.......44 players on an oval all standing 190cms and weighing 85kgs, running rings around each other, without the slightest hint of body contact???

No Im sorry, this is not the game I grew up on and certainly not the game I want to grow old with. Its bland, boring and soft.

We had a 22 players fined for a melee.....not a brawl....but a melee last week....see even the words are soft......was there even ONE punch thrown???

SOFT.....F*CKING SOFT!

PERFECT, WELL SAID. YOU SUMMED IT UP

THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT SHOULD BE ON TRIAL ARE THE ********S THAT HAVE/ARE RUINING THE GAME.

nothing at all in it.

You should also have the option:

NO - Opposition supporter who has Buddy in SuperCoach with Grand Final this week and $150 riding on it!

This game is becoming a joke and I squarely lay the blame for it on Demetriou and Anderson.

The main point of contention is that the rule says a player can bump if they wish to do so, but if they hit the head or neck and they could have avoided bumping then they have to be willing to pay the consequences. Franklin could have tackled. He didn't, hit the head, and the MRP did the right thing in suspending him in accordance to their rules.

The video evidence is far from conclusive that Buddy made contact with Cousins head. The physical force of the impact and then Ben hitting the ground could have caused the concussion. (People are concussed all the time in car accidents without having any direct head injuries.)

He obviously hit him in the head. I mean, come on... The shoulder connected with the face and there was a mark there afterwards. You can see on the video that he hit his face.

You need to watch the video again then. It's not clear at all whether there was head contact. It's a bullshit ruling, his arms/elbows never left his side, the only reason Cousins even got hurt was because he got the fumbles and ducked into it.

Am nervous cos it is so important to us, but pretty confident the tribunal will toss it where it belongs.
