Should the Anzac day clash be untrollable?

What is it about really ?

Australia has more war memorials per capita than any other nation, but has rarely been invaded (but thats another story)

Not to deflect from the horrors of war, but australia was an uneventful place around the time of the two world wars, the people of the time latched onto it like mccaffer on cotchin

Shit thread.

I can't stand the constant references to mateship, bravery etc and how they're so relevant to football.
It's a sport. It's entertainment. It is not war. There's no glory in war- just a lot of blood.
ANZAC day lost much of its meaning years ago.

For me its the diggers were normal blokes of the time and liked to play and go to the football

The Anzacs fought to preserve our way of life, which includes playing footy and trolling opposition footy teams on the internet so harden up OP.

If we get up over the Bears in Wellington today I'll be trolling the hell out of them, it's what the Anzacs would've wanted.

That's right, the Anzacs were just normal knockabout blokes like us that liked their footy and liked to have a laugh, by all means we should pay our respects to them today but there's no need to be too serious and treat the day like a funeral. That's not what the Anzacs would want the day to be.

My lordy, are you completely stupid? The fact is although not invaded, Australia had to give up a massive amount of its population and way of life to assist other countries in need. The war was essentially not a problem for us, yet we still fought to the death over and over again. **** off flog.:thumbsdown:

How did that go?

I've had 3 family members who were Diggers
But seriously, if we can't troll this one day... and the purpose of the Bay is to troll... are you suggesting we shut down the site for a day?
Noooooooooooooooo! I'd have to find my trolling fix somewhere else. I'm addicted to this place.
Plugger, loved the reference to Boomer's wife. You are my hero.

You say that like you were actually there. Not one of my points is wrong, and neither is yours. Thats the point of the anzac legend

Did you see my post about actual casualty rates ? It was the Brits and turks who paid the highest price, but its not the biggest thing in their history

We all know this....But it has helped make people become more aware.

Nobody in here is saying that it's right, but unfortunately, a game of AFL has coincided with Anzac Day becoming bigger and more appreciated than it's ever been.
Yeah ,it's made people more aware the AFL are ripping people off $$$$ on the back of the ANZAC's ..
No other reason the AFL are doing this but for $$$$$$ ..
Most people wont get it
