Does St Kilda traditionally go "straight into cricket season"? :)

It's why Warney took up cricket. He knew the saints would never win anything.

An Adelaide supporter backing Toots can only mean one thing.

The pride of South Australia is taking a pounding ;)

It may take ten, it may take twenty it may take thiry years or longer but eventually the Victorian clubs will be a minority group in the AFL. Won't that be a great day.

A few things will change at that point including the Grand Final moving from city to city and Port wearing it's heritage jumper everywhere during heritage round. :thumbsu:

Haha does that dream turn you on? ;)

One thing Toots I forget, but how long is the contract with MCC and the AFL  I'm sure it's longer than thiry or even thirty years from memory?? :p

I actually agree with the original poster. No one gives a shit about South Australia apart from South Australians.

Victorian clubs certainly have enjoyed recruiting the best South Austrlaian (and Western Australian) players for the last 30 years or so (I'd certainly be happy to give up the chance to recruit interstate youngsters if it meant we and the Crows could solely recruit from SA).

You're one state out of many. It's inevitable. Nothing against Victorians, it's just how things will be. :)

I wouldn't be. Port have been recruiting players from interstate including Victoria since way before the club got in the AFL. Where do you think Warren Tredrea's dad came from, Tim Evans and many more.

Should there be a board for Cats to gloat?

Should there be a Buddy Franklin board to come over?

Should there be a Bryce Gibbs board?

No, don't be silly

But there should be one for GC26 "How I picks up the chics thread"

No one gives a shit about North besides the people who support them ( rare breed) or those who fear the exodus will affect their club (Hawthorn, Saints, Western Bulldogs).

Yes we've recruited some players from interstate, but if we could recruit South Australians solely it would take away the go home factor and would increase the club's ability to recruit youngsters who could more closely identify with the culture of the club. Also, given that we generally never have a top 4 pick, its pretty hard to select the most highly rated juniors in the state/country.

If we didn't lose players to Victoria 30 years ago it would have lessened the need to recruit players such as Tim Evans and Gary Tredrea, who incidently came voluntarily to the state instead of being drafted, thereby meaning they would have straight up been willing to embrace the culture of the club - the way the footy world works now is a lot different to when those 2 players were recruited over 25 years ago.

There's a story from years ago of Bob McLean and Ron Joseph the North Melbourne great who were both over in West Australia recruiting players. They were sitting together outside one of the West Australian club's committee room and Joseph said to McLean "I wonder what they're saying in there" to which McLean replied "I wouldn't know, we don't release players". Joseph replied "I know, that's why we don't try to recruit yours".

Yes and Big Bob used to encourage the players to take the Victorian club's sign on fees year after year even though they had no intention of going over to the VFL :thumbsu::D

Yeah cos Hawthorn & Richmond fans don't do that at all do they?

You guys are just as bad, if not worse.

Richmond fans are obssessed with us, but we regularly start threads on Geelong, Essendon, Kangaroos and sometimes even the forgotten clubs like Melbourne and St Kilda.

The fact that Port and Adelaide exclusively troll each other means they should ship off to their own little zone and stop clogging bay 13 with their domestic issues.
