Shuey needs to be "The Man!"

Shuey is the most talented of the midfielders, Masten is our current best midfielder I think.

maybe...although with ellis and wellingham in there now, that call might be debatable. i just think shuey needs to nail more goals, he's been surpassed there by masten, wellers, and cripps even..i know you can be a good mid doing lots of hard work feeding off and setting up goals, but a 'talented' mid for me - kicks goals as well (although arguably judd doesnt kick many goals). for time being masten has become a classic mid, hard running, tackling, clearance work, and kicking goals on a regular basis. couldnt ask for much more. anyway it seems like we're going to have enough midfield talent/dynamics this season to make it hard for the opp. to shutdown, so other mids will get off the chain..and given the way simpson seems to be using them..injury gods please be appeased with last years offerings and cut us some slack!

Shuey does kick goals for a mid. Averages 1 a game over his career. Twice as much as Masten.

I think that's because he's had a few games where he's bagged a handfull..

ie 5 v Bulldogs in 2011
5 v GWS in 2012
3 v Port in 2011

^ that's like 13 goals from 3 games, which would reflect on his career average.

thanks for the update, was curious what he kicked and am surprised at that average, as low as it is. just seem to recall him always with the speccy lead up then missing the goals. i'm sure masten has kicked more/averaged more recently in past 2 years. (could be wrong there too?). Ok, maybe i'm not a big shuey fan, something about his onfield behaviour or demeanour irritates me. but agree with EH above. i'm sure he'll grow on me with an extra goal here and there? (;
ps-and he may be another one who gets off the leash more this season, with our new classier rolling midfield.

Article in AFL app that their thinking about reducing free agency making Shuey a free agent in 2015, I would be shattered if he leaves, worst then Judd considering the timing and the fact we will get nothing, he seems pretty loyal and loving West Coast but money talks and clubs will offer a lot for him- need to sign him up on a long contract.

But also it make Daniel Rich a free agent aswell to keep it interesting.

Isn't this his 5th season?

or 6th if you include the one he missed?

Or is this some inside joke I've missed?
They said 2015 free agency, so he will be in his 6th year this year.

Wait yeah your right free agency is at years end. He still has two seasons this and next before then.

He's certainly put on mass - although it's probably 2-3kg max.

2-3kg is massive if it's lean muscle. 5-8kg would have him pushing 95+ haha.

Ill have you know i put on 5-8 kg every xmas without trying

Fookin natural athlete i am

Is there anywhere we can find an official stat on the (victorian commentators) identical twin to shannon hurn

Shuey does look
stronger now and hopefully this equates to him busting tackles and giving up the ducking which is lamo

Yep, i'd much prefer him to be using strength & skill to take the game on rather than playing for frees. same goes for Cox or anyone in our side. Hopefully Simmo has said the same.

I don't think we'll be playing for frees much this year. I remember Simmo saying something along those lines when he first signed.
