Ch.7 news last night reported police have a major break through in the case for missing school girl 'Bung' who went missing in Boronia in mid 2011. But Police have since denied that prisoner who committed suicide this week, was the prime suspect. He was living in Ferntree Gully at the time, roughly 3 kilometres from Bung's Boronia house. He spent 15 years imprisoned for the abduction and rape of two schoolgirls.

So looks like the case is still cold. This case recieves hardly any media attention, yet Maddelaine Mccanns "abduction" is still world wide news.

Still waiting for the march to reclaim the streets of Boronia

Saw this as well, seemed very odd, was right at the end of the news. Initial thoughts were it was a bit of a set up hoping they could possibly get a reaction from someone they are keeping an eye on but I havent seen it reported anywhere else so looks like 7 jumped the gun on poor info or something.

Poor girl was the victim of a predatory sex offender, no doubt.

Remember the little shit of a kid in this saga who made up the story that she was followed by a man in the same area ?
She gave the cops a description of a man and his car, then a couple of days later said she made it all up.

That was the one where the would-be abductor was supposedly wearing a surgical mask? That alone made it a bit fishy...

That suspect had a water tight alibi, apparently. At work at the time or something.

Used to work in the Boronia area a couple of years back, and we had a regular customer who used to come in to the store every other weekend pretty much like clockwork. Anyway she went missing for a few weeks and they found her body up in the mountains.

Unfortunately my expectation has always been that this sad case will end the same way.

I'm from Boronia myself. It's not the best area around though compared to what it was some 10 years ago, it's improved dramatically. I remember it very well at the time. Missing persons posters were up on just about every single shop window and there just seemed to be a sense that this would be solved sooner rather than later irrespective of the actual outcome.

If you look at the map of her path to school, it's about a 5-10 minute walk depending on traffic and crosses Albert avenue, approximately 400m away from the Albert ave roundabout which has an abundance of traffic passing through it all day and even more during the hours of 8:30-8:55am; the time of her final reported sighting.

I've always found it hard to believe that nobody saw or heard something, especially considering how many other school children, parents and general residents (the majority of the schools immediate surroundings are residential houses), would've been around during the time frame. There's the extreme case where she may have been held at gunpoint not to scream and simply obey orders, but holding somebody at gun point that close to a school at that time in the morning seems a little too far fetched for me. Way too much risk associated with it.

The more I think about it, the more I learn towards this case actually not been an abduction, rather something that was planned. Now that could simply be skipping school for the day to go shopping with an older friend or running away with somebody, which if memory serves me right, was one of the initial theories; the investigators checked her social media profiles for any potential leads.

It's just a sad case. I hope the family gets some closure and that she didn't end up somewhere in the Dandenong Ranges as she'll almost certainly never be found if that's the case. Simply far too many spots that you could dump a body and have nobody find her without seriously going off the path up there.

My mates and I, when we've had theoretical conversations about where we would hide a body, we've always said the Dandenong Ranges would be the 'best' place to hide one.

I really do hope she is found alive and well, but there's basically a 0% chance of that happening now. :(

I just don't get how someone could harm a young kid.

We are too lenient on our criminals and too lazy with our mental health.

So sad that our kids pay the price

I dont feel that there will be a happy outcome to this case and end up as another sad and tragic story of a young life taken

Seems like the step dad has been copping a lot of accusations. I'm from the area, there are some wacko's out that way. Reminds me a bit of the Carmen Chan case from the early 90's.

I find it hard to believe the report of the last sighting, apparently was from somebody inside a house not far from the school. You would think there would of been cars dropping kids off everywhere.
