I have a theory that maybe At Attin? Spelling? Is completely unaware of the fall of the republic - rise of the empire - victory of the rebellion, has anything happened that perhaps I've missed that discredits this theory?

With Wym being in to Jedi it makes sense they still think it is the republic era, since by the time of the rebellion everyone through Jedi were extinct. Then again, he also believes there's an old Jedi temple on the planet, if it was still the heyday of the republic and Jedi order it would make no sense for an abandoned temple...

Also, shame about Jude Law. Looks like they're committing to him being a baddie. Well it was a fun ride, I do respect the commitment. I would be surprised at this point if there is anymore twists left in his arc.

Here's the bitchy part so have at it SM, another slow speed chase at the beginning with the parents going for a lazy jog away from the security droids. This ****ing franchise and it's slow speed chases recently.

Not sure that's a theory, that's very clearly the case. They think it's still the old Republic. That's why they reference Alderaan in the second episode and someone says something like "Where have you guys been?". That's why the planet is referred to as a Jewel of the Old Republic. The planet is very clearly cut off from the rest of the Galaxy and thinks it's still the time of the 'Republic'. The New Republic has no idea where they are.

Someone said earlier the barrier was made to protect them from the emperor which left me wondering if I missed something

I think the show has been exploit as possible in conveying that no one on the planet (bar perhaps the droids) has any idea the Republic fell.

I wonder why nobody seems to question why they might not have had a visitor in like 20 years, surely longer than some of the parents have been adults

I think that's part of the whole narrative point. The parents are just as much part of the system as the kids. The parents think they're cogs in some great system but really they're doing all this work to produce all these credits that are just sitting in vaults because the Republic hasn't come to collect them for decades.

They get told when they graduate.

Yeah I think that's more about telling them the reason why they all have their jobs i.e. "Hey kids we're actually producing a ton of money for the Republic and we have a whole system set up where we do all this work that we'll explain to you when you're older".

I think the fact the landing platform clearly hadn't been used in forever either was a sign that no one from the Republic has come in a fair while.

I'm still reasonably convinced the Supervisor is either no one (i.e. the droids are running the show and the adults have no idea they're doing work for no reason) or it's the pirate captain.
