Slipped disk in my back-HELP PLEASE

I have two ruptured discs in my lower back.

When they flare up all I do is lie down, don't move and take panadeine forte with nurofen.

My suggestion to you is lie down and take the above if your stomach can handle it. When it settles get an MRI because there is no such thing as a 'slipped' disc mate. You have damage.

Hydrotherapy and pilates is the way to go to control the condition.

Hope this helps mate.

hey mate. Sounds like you have a 'posterior derangement' of your disc. Which means the disc has been ruptured at the back of it and fluid in it has slipped out. It happens when you bend forward, like picking something up from the ground, which puts pressure on the posterior part of the disc.
A good exercise is to put your hands on your hips and stand up straight and lean back as far as you can (extension of the spine). Do about 15 of these whenever you can. You can also do it on your stomache; keep your pelvis on the floor and arch your back by pushing up onto your hands. do this 15 times. This takes pressure off the disc and should help relieve symptoms. See a physio though

I got a scan and the doctor told me i have a slipped disc that is hitting the sciatic nerve, he told me to go to the physio, but i think they are rubbish. I have heard that Bowen therapy works so wondering if anyone else has used it.

Two months ago I managed to give myself a L4/L5 disc prolapse. Squishy inside of disc pops out and wraps around spinal cord, HUGELY painful. Months later am still left with a numb foot, but luckily no longer in agony.

After consulting a couple of docs, the best advice I got was from a doc who specialises in Sports Medicine. He told me - Total and utter rest. No lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying..nothing. Pain relief if you need it.

I will be seeing a Neurosurgeon in the next few weeks to discuss possible surgery, but Im not overly keen to do anything for merely a numb foot.

Realistically you can't think about Physio or Chiro or Hydro or anything until the swelling has totally gone, you will only put yourself at risk of further damage. In another month or so's time I will begin doing some kind of therapy to heal it, but that will be months after the initial injury I did myself.

Good luck with it and take it easy. Feel free to PM me if you wish.

All pain is now out of my foot, it only feels a little numb. My back still hurts a bit but i can put up with it as the foot pain was the killer.

I have booked in to see a bowen therapist tomorrow so will see how it goes.

Do let us know how it goes. I for one haven't had Bowen therapy offered to me, and am willing to look at anything that gives some results. Good luck.

I had a friend recommend Bowen Therapy the other day as I'm suffering a nerve related problem in my legs (REstless Leg Syndrome if anyone's heard of that). After the appointment I was a little skeptical but I will do the follow up to see if it makes a difference.

Do you mean you will go to the first appointment or you have already been?

So bulldogrob .. It's either gone so well you are out training for the New York marathon... or so bad you're in traction and can't get to the 'puter....

put me out of my misery and let me know how it went.
