Time for it to be banned. If you want to harm yourself do it away from where normal people are trying to live. Walking out of the ground friday night i couldn't breathe clean air for about 15 minutes, it was absolutely putrid. Smoking should be banned outside of grounds and at train stations.

Where are they going to smoke? Who cares but normal people should be allowed to breathe clean air. Ban it in public places altogether.

You're walking around a car park with hundreds of vehicles moving around spewing out carbon monoxide. Time to ban cars outside the grounds.

I no longer smoke but seriously stop being such a baby. You're outside in the world, not everything is going to cater to you.

If you smoke you're not a normal person? Nice agenda you muppet.
Stay inside and please refrain from making more embarrassing threads.
A normal person to me wouldn't have been sucked in by advertising and being 'cool' causing health concerns, illness and potential death.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

All those pesky cigarette adverts they run these days.

It's a free country and people are free to do what they like on public property. The stadium companies do not have any legal right to dictate what you can do once you leave the stadium.

I hate having to squeeze past fat people when getting onto trains. I hate having to sit next to fat people when on trains or planes.
If you want to harm yourself by getting overweight or obese, then do it at home and make a foxtel show about it! Normal weight people should not have to put up with this!! Time to ban all soft drinks and fast foods at the football!
I hate the smell of beer. I hate having to sit next to someone on a train with a strong beer odour. If you are going to drink beer and increase your risks of liver disease and many cancers, then do it at home. Normal non-drinking people should not have to put up with drunks and beer smells! Time to ban all beer at the football! ;)

I am not a smoker but I am so damn tired of these statists getting all up in people's shit wanting to ban stuff. What you don't realise is that when you bestow upon government the power to ban something on the grounds that it is unhealthy, you set a dangerous precedent, and next we'll be banning soft drinks, fast food, alcohol, anything artificial.

We are turning into such a little cucked, whinging nation.

Take a look at this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/2016/05/18/greens-voters-are-the-heaviest-drinkers-survey-finds/

"[Greens voters] were also the most in favour of increasing alcohol taxes, of limiting alcohol sponsorship and advertising, and of limiting the sale of alcohol at supermarkets; but least in favour of earlier closing times for pubs and clubs, and least in favour of restrictions on alcohol sales at licensed venues."

These people are so shockingly dense that they can't see the connection between artificial price increases, taxes, and bans, on the ability to actually access said product. Do you want to make it tougher for people to drink or harder? MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!

Not directly connected to what you're saying here but the idea that just because something is unpleasant it should be banned is actually quite selfish.

You don't realise that is constantly banning it in more and more places, people just move like a herd to another area. It doesn't work. Designated areas are fine: because then you know what areas to avoid.

Outright banning it from outside stadiums is a hyperbolic approach.

Normal people?? You mean the ones that lack empathy because they don't live or have the same thoughts as you. I'm a smoker also, you seem like the type of person who judges someone before they get to know them.

I'd rather hang out with someone who acts like a decent person that smokes, than someone who has such a judgemental closed minded view of people such as yourself. We're not in highschool anymore.

A "normal" person wouldn't be sucked in by Macca's and Coke ad's either....Yet, the AFL has Macca's, Coke and Mars as sponsors.....
Smoking has been over taken by overweight/obesity as the leading cause of death and disability in Australia.
As a GP I can tell you now that I see many many more people with weight issues than smokers. The problem is that targeting smokers has always been socially acceptable...Targeting fat people isn't. Interesting dichotomy.

Got no problem with people smoking outside but people shouldn't be allowed to smoke directly outside of the gates. My son loves going for a kick at the breaks and we have to navigate through a cloud of stinking smoke each time he wants to play . Move the smokers so people can use the gates without the smoke and the problem is solved.

BTW the false equivalency being spouted in this thread is pretty funny. Drinking a Coke or eating a Big Mac doesn't directly affect other people. Smoking does. That's why it was banned from restaurants, pubs, etc.
