This is a thread to post serious hypotheses for changes which might improve our premiership aspirations, but by the same token may see you labelled as a complete lunatic.

Teach Travis Cloke to kick set shots on his right
He showed on Friday night that his right peg at least has some juice in it. Certainly enough to nail shots from inside 40m at the very least. Training him up to kick set shots on his right would mean that he can compose an entirely new routine, without having to compensate for the foibles present in his left-footed technique. It wouldn't need to be deft or even all that fluent, as he would only use it for set shots and the time from gaining possession to getting ball to boot would be irrelevant. Using the opposite hand for the ball drop might overcome the "muscle memory" issue which could otherwise see him fall back into bad habits. It only needs to be effective a la James Manson.
I think if we can teach Marty Clarke to kick a football from scratch, we're a chance to do it with Clokey... but only if we start with a clean slate on the right foot.
Worth a shot but I think Seedsfan has hit the nail on the head - problem is mental. If Sunbot can't get in touch with the club or fix the problem I think Cloke needs to take up ballet http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s/news-story/876586ef17256d1426a878a4f0f78f48
Reid has been doing it for strengthening (injury prevention) but instead of Cloke making fun of Reid, Cloke needs to incorporate it into his set shot routine. Once he's mentally strong enough to do this in front of massive crowds his current mental demons will be as insignificant as Malthouse's coaching contribution to Carlton.
Honestly, I can fix Cloke easily so if any posters can get the message into the club please do. (Btw I am a qualified L3 coach and have a Uni degree in psychology).
Step 1 chuck the headphones away
Step 2 forget about the whole pre-kick routine
Step 3 forget about all the stuff about balldrop
These haven't worked so he needs to get them out of his mindset.
Step 4 show him videos of his first three seasons - they are his natural game and his best kicking style
Step 5 tell him to go back his distance and a bit more, take one look at the sticks, look at in his hands and just start running in and kick it.
Cloke has a natural gift that can kick goals, he's never been a deadeye dick with 70%+ but gifted nonetheless. He needs to get in touch with the image of himself in his early years not the spectre that the media has built up about him since 2010 and goal machine "hype" which his father got through for his 5 yr deal.
Thems my thoughts. He will be happier about it all and the team will benefit.

Andrew Gaze was talking about this with basketballers that are a poor shot on their dominant side. Worth a go I think but I think it is mental with Cloke
