I'm not ready to read through the posts yet. But obviously we're all completely gutted right now.

But can I urge everyone to not become what they expect from us.. and what we despise in other boards ( at certain times).

Let's be gracious in defeat. We have to cop our whack and we will. But let's take it on the chin with heads held high.

So has Buckley ..
You enjoy watching genuine champions of the game elevating us far beyond what we’d otherwise achieve?

Fair enough. Each to their own.

Head up Pies fans your side was terrific today, whilst I don’t take much stock in the theory that you have to lose one to win one it’s pretty clear this side isn’t going away any time soon, you have some of the most exciting players in the comp and the age demographic of your list is pretty much perfect, I would have likened a Collingwood win today to the hawks in 2008...it wasn’t to be but your best is ahead in the coming years.

I feel the umpires had Brodie on the back foot from the first quarter paying completely and utterly random free kicks against him.

They mentally dismantled him throughout the entire day and then Lycett and Vardy finished the job.

Made all the more puzzling by many similar holds/pushes around the ground that were not paid.

Though I do note that Grundy does tend to give away a few. Who is the rick coach again?

“Yeah but”

If they were shit all day that excuses them from making a correct call at the end??? Terrible logic

They were consistent in their interpretation the entire game, not sure why we should expect them to adjudicate differently on a decision in the last couple of minutes in the game.

Think I'm going to take some time away from the board (unless something happens in trades). Don't think I can cope with those that need to point fingers.

I can promise that however bad any of us are feeling, the guys who are being mentioned for not having performed to their usual standards would be feeling much much worse. They don't need us rubbing it in.

Man just got home from the G

Such a devastating and hollow feeling. One hand on the cup most of the day.

Full credit to WCE who executed their game plan brilliantly. They man handled Grundy all day to nullify his impact, and covered Sidebottom.

Hard to not be simply proud of how they gave everything today.

Super proud of Tom Langdon and Taylor Adams both were superb all day.

Onwards and upwards.

Commiserations guys, you should truly be proud of the effort you put into today & especially after coming back from a season like 2017 that you had.
The stand out from the day was Nathan Buckley, I’ll be honest, have never been a big fan of him, but credit to a man when credit is due.
Pre game when the unthinkable occured with your banner, he went and hugged quite a few of the cheer squad, who were visibly upset & then post game he did the same with Alex Woodward.
Anyhow before I let you guys get back to your post mortem, would like to applaud your team on giving all AFL supporters a bloody great game of footy to watch.:thumbsu:

Got a soft spot for Bucks given his Port beginnings and he went up again in my estimations today. Class act. Hope he gets another Premiership (does have a Port one in the SNAFL) one day.

I agree, but at the same time people come on here to disseminate the game, it’s their way of assessing how and where things went wrong. They’re gonna identify those that were down - it’s not personal.

Anthony Rocca.

Imagine how good Grundy could be with an ACTUAL ruck coach. Been saying that for years.

It seems strange that this in depth review missed the fact that we’re one of the only sides in the comp without a ruck coach.

Pendles has been fecking shit the whole finals series barring the 2nd quarter against Richmond. I'm hoping we get 2010-2013 Pendles back next year because imo he had a pretty down year this year for his standards. He is growing as a leader at least.

De Goey is a bloody gun.

Aish and Greenwood non-existent.

Sidebottom tagged out of the game, oh well.

Mayne was BOG out of the Collingwood players I thought, and I'm his biggest critic.

Grundy looked hurt early on in the game and seemed to spend a lot more time than usual on the interchange bench.

Did anyone get injured?

Liam Ryan should get a suspension for that dirty bump - he did not go after the ball.

WTF happened for that last goal? He seemed to play on but then was allowed to go back and take a set shot. Also was that screen/block legal?

That's reasonable. The way some go about it makes me sick though, it's a written forum, people are fully capable of filtering what they say before it's published.

Agree with that too. Passion blurs the lines but I agree that our boys should be immensely proud of their season and their efforts.
