So Hird and Essendon all along have said they want the truth to come out and for them to have their say.

But now it looks like they are focusing on discrediting the legality of the process but what about the actual findings? They are trying to escape on a legal technicality and look like they are trying to avoid the truth, avoid the findings and avoid sanctions.

So James, what happened about the truth?

They are acting more and more like guilty parties who will try every dirty trick in the book to avoid responsibility for their actions and avoid punishment.

Bigfooty mentality... Don't understand situation, make rhetorical thread giving opinion on situation woman's day style...

Understand situation. Heard Hird and others say they looked forward to telling their side. Now see injunctions so they never have to.

They are guilty of doping so they're trying to discredit the process and get off with a technicality. WTF do they think they're going to achieve by this? In the end EFC will go down in history as cheats and this process isn't going to stop that.

Also, why the hell has Hird joined the EFC in this action? He doesn't even have a Show Cause notice.

The situation is that the club self reported saying they think there may have been breaches. They held an internal review by Ziggy who said an poorly administered pharmacological program had taken place. The club then allowed the players to take part in a joint investigation by ASADA and the AFL. The club accepted the fines handed out to them by the AFL for breaches in this matter.

But now, they don't want it tested by ASADA in the relevant tribunal because the process to which they previously agreed to, is now all of a sudden illegal. That's not rhetoric, that's just plain fact.

They say they have the best interests of the players at heart . Well, all this action does is prolong the uncertainty. It may indeed negate any offer of reduced sentences and turn what may have been a one season ban ( 6 months in competition ) into another yr of court cases followed by 2 yrs of penalties. Fact, not rhetoric.

Because his 'name' is being discredited.

He will be forever known as a drug cheat. Whether get gets off or not.

This thread is just plain dumb.
Because it shows the inconsistency of messages coming out if Essendon?

I personally think Essendon have no choice but to fight on any basis that they can because the potential damage is catastrophic so I'm not surprised by this action nor think it's unreasonable.

Having said that, it IS contradictory to the spin Essendon have been peddling.

Yes yes…but you don't understand, I mean, really…UNDERSTAND...the situation.

No-one does.

Understand that is.

Sometimes pealing complex issues back to the basics says a lot.

At the beginning Essendon were all about co-operating and getting to the bottom of the matter......the truth.

Then it moved to 'well......arrr....um.....we're actually not too sure what went on within this uncontrolled, unrecorded pharmaceutical experimental drug program on our players'. Sorry everyone our bad!

And now it's "We challenge the process as being legal" and so we are going to the Federal Court to discredit the authorities undertaking the investigation and get off somehow.

But as I posted before Essendon has to fight this any way it can because if they and their players go down the club will be financially ruined and carry the label as convicted drug cheats.

In the same sense white people can listen to Hendrix... but they can't hear Hendrix?

over the last 48 hours the essendon football club has received information on the supplements the club have been given to our players as part of the fitness program in 2012. given the information we received and the questions it has raised we have taken the following action:
- firstly we consulted with our staff and briefed our board and all of our players today
- secondly we contacted the AFL and earlier today we met with mclachlan and clothier to brief them and seek their advice. following that discussion we requested the AFL to commence an immediate investigation
- thirdly today the essendon football club contacted ASADA and requested their assistance in the investigation. we offered the full co-operation of everyone in our club and ASADA advised us they would commence the investigation immediately

...that is why we have moved quickly to call the AFL and ASADA to seek a clean bill of health...

...we want this investigation to go where it will and our club at every level will co-operate. we now want the investigation to take its course...

...we want to dig a little bit deeper but we want the experts to do that...

...it takes experts, we've contacted some experts today, and we'll use them to help us with our findings...

...we think we need experts to do it...

so far we've seen three investigations into this issue concluded:
1) essendons own internal investigation
2) the AFLs investigation
3) the ASADA investigation

all 3 share the same view IMO

time for little and the essendon football club to stop wasting their money and eroding their integrity further

It's particularly damning that the EFC Board can't even say, "The investigation comprimised the truth of the findings." If you wanted to make a strong case surely that's something that you'd say. Instead they're really trying to keep the truth of the findings separate from the process.

I'm sure Hird (and others) will gladly 'tell the truth'...To a friendly ghost writer, away from annoying things like having to answer questions they'd rather not, and purgery laws.
