Current Social Media Influencer Crimes * Qld Mother Charged With Torture

A 34-year-old social media influencer has been accused of torturing her baby daughter and taking photos of her in "immense distress and pain".

The woman is alleged to have been poisoning her daughter to fraudulently elicit donations.

Another, Sorenson.

Before the accusation, Sorenson had enjoyed a modest following on her @motherhoodessentials Instagram account while also posting conspiracy theories espoused by QAnon followers of Democrats and Hollywood elites running child sex-trafficking rings.

Her videos on the alleged kidnapping attempt were viewed more than four million times and gained her tens of thousands of new followers. They've since been deleted.

Some social media influencers aren't responsible enough to have this kind of power. The mayhem put further focus on the hold social media influencers have on the people who follow and fawn over them.

Police said they arrested 65 people, including 30 juveniles.

Several people were injured, including some with bloodied faces. At least four people were taken away in ambulances.

"I don't think people realise the level of discipline that we showed to take a very dangerous, volatile situation and to be able to bring it to a level of resolve without any loss of life or any substantial damage to property and without young people harming themselves," Mayor Adams said.

A high-profile Queensland social media influencer has been charged with poisoning a baby, as well as torture, child exploitation and several other alleged offences.

The 34-year-old Sunshine Coast woman had documented the health struggles of the child online, all while administering unauthorised prescription and pharmacy medicines to the one-year-old girl to make her sick, police allege.

The woman allegedly produced the content and exploited the child to get donations and online followers.

Police arrested the woman at a home in Underwood on Thursday morning and charged her with five counts of administering poison with intent to harm, three counts of preparation to commit crimes with dangerous things, and one count each of torture, making child exploitation material and fraud.

She is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

not up to speed with qld influencers, but 'high profile' or 'celeb' is often clickbait in this instance and the follower count could be anywhere between 100 to 1 million, and these people are often nobodies.

There should be some sort of confirmation of these cases by a medical professional.

Do you mean the Daily Mail should have sought comment from the Queensland Children’s Hospital before publishing their piece linked upthread?

Or do you mean something else?

The case is before the courts. There will be a number of medical witnesses, some expert witnesses also, as I understand from watching the press conference given my QPS Representative DI Dalton today:

The “mother’s” quotes from that article are fking enraging.
I’ve italicised (what I find) the worst of it - even if her little one wasn’t sick because she was being poisoned, who the fk words a post as if it’s the child’s own fault.
'Daisy was once a bright and bubbly little girl that has recently taken an unfortunate turn and has now put herself in what appears to be a comatose state for over 100 hours… But on-top of that the doctors are still bending over backwards trying to understand why Daisy decides to completely shut down with no response and put herself into a comatose state'

'Daisy has been unresponsive for over 100 hours now and we have no idea when she will choose to wake herself up. This could be tomorrow but it could also be in 6 weeks, but it's something that's only safe for her to do herself when she's ready,' she said.

'Even after Daisy decides to wake we will still have the long journey of trying to figure out what is causing this level of sleep and slow brain activity.’

I think her name's Allanah Harris.
**

My bad, I thought she still went by her maiden name and I was wrong.

Her first mention is occurring the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

I’ve linked a very informative podcast series dedicated to this investigation.

thanks, was off the mark in terms of her follower count, going by past media exaggerations. happy to say i had no idea who she was, though. also interesting how suppressing her name has had no effect either.
Mommy bloggers aren’t my thing, and before a few months ago, when the allegations started to come out on forums, and in the news, I had never heard of this “influencer” that’s the subject of the charges, or her partner or her children. I found out her name and looked at her image and I still didn’t recognise her or her brand.

Allanah (that’s not her real surname BTW) the alleged torturer of baby *****, was “talent” managed by 26 Talent Agency, which was founded and managed Mikhailla Fitzgerald (of Stafford QLD) for years, but recently acquired by Huume. As baby the alleged victim was being allegedly poisoned and tortured, and exploited for clicks (allegedly), Mikhailla would take a slice of the content pie, and she was be getting some financial benefit from all of her “Talent” including Allanah and the Allanah Harris family brand and their family socials.

IMO

It’s not Mrs. Fitzgerald’s fault, and I am not saying she knew anything nefarious was going on with her client and that brand, from what I have been told she dropped Allanah as a client soon after the allegations became public, AFAIK, and has never really addressed the situation. AFAIK

Imho: Mommy influencers who use their children to generate content and profit represent a very dark corner of the internet imo, and I’m very glad the cops have the child exploitation charge as one of their 11 charges against Allanah.

I hope it makes some others take notice of how they exploit their own children and babies for $$ and clicks.

Wow. I really hope this turns out to be a case of medical and police mistake such as Kathleen Folbigg but for it to get this far I feel they must have some very compelling evidence.
They’ve had a whole taskforce working on this for months, they have a situation room at Morningside Police Station and I believe the cops have enough to make the charges stick.

Let’s see how the woman pleads to the charges tomorrow.

Because she’s documented her many lies on social media, it’s going to be hard for her to come up with a cohesive narrative that explains what’s gone on, in a way that would get her off these charges, because a lot of the evidence she’s recorded and posted herself.
IMO

I mean if the baby has been sick for as long as reported there should also be ongoing medical reports about the examinations , diagnoses and treatments undertaken, by a physician or hospital, that could be revealed. Usually a child’s doctor will be willing to talk about an illness, even if in general terms. We’ve only heard these from the woman.

Most of baby’s treatment as I understand it occurred at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane. That’s the most tertiary children’s hospital in the State. They (hospital staff) reported the mother to the police, and absolutely they (the hospital and the staff there) would have been cooperating fully with police regarding the child’s medical care from Day 1, when the report was made. Imo

The baby went into State Care whilst in hospital when the report was made, so the State as I understand it has been responsible for the child’s care and wellbeing since that time.

That’s right. But no medical person commented earlier during the supposed illness, which was suspicious. Wasn’t the child supposedly ill for months? Or was it just days? I’ve lost track.

What I’m saying is that while the mother was weeping on SM there was no indication she had sought a medical diagnosis. Is that right?

There’s a lot of info here in the police conference, and yes, the rest is from the podcast. (link to the police briefing is below).

LIVE: Detective Inspector Paul Dalton will be available to answer questions relating to Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit charging a woman with torture following extensive investigations into allegations of an infant being poisoned.

Well done to the journos who asked the right questions, imo, and the police Inspector was very transparent in answering as much as he could.

"The past few weeks have been very touch and go," Allanah began.

"Last Wednesday, D**** took an unexpected turn and went into cardiac arrest (a couple of times) & again ran in to further really scary complications Father's Day of all days.

As a result of these tests, D**** will now be having Brain Surgery late this week & will continue to stay in ICU until her surgery day, as well as the following few weeks for close monitoring while they investigate her Cardiac issues.

D**** was once a bright and bubbly little girl that has recently taken an unfortunate turn and has now put herself in what appears to be a comatose state for over 100 hours.

Unfortunately there aren't any medications or stimulants that are safe for D** to have to help her wake. D** has encountered countless needles/blood tests while 'asleep' and doesn't so much as bat an eyelid.

***Edited to obscure the name of the alleged child victim.

Update:

A Queensland influencer charged with the torture of her baby will remain in custody for more than a week, with her lawyer pushing for her to be put in protective custody over concerns for her safety.

On Friday morning, the 34-year-old Sunshine Coast mother appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court wearing prison issued clothing, and appearing to talk to a supporter in the room.

The woman was arrested on Thursday and charged by child protection detectives with a range of offences including administering poison with intent to harm, torture, making child exploitation material, and fraud.

Medical experts said the one-year-old child suffered such “severe emotional and physical distress” that she could have died, police will allege.

Defence lawyer is Mathew Cuskelly.

It is alleged the crimes occurred between August 6 and October 15 last year. Police allege the mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, committed the crimes to solicit about $60,000 in donations, and gain followers online.

In court, her lawyer, Mathew Cuskelly, asked for the matter to be adjourned, and requested police to disclose copies of CCTV.

He said he would be making an application for bail.

“I ask that she be transported out to Womens Correctional Centre given she’s in the watch house,” he said.

Journalists who applied for court documents relating to the case were refused.

The case was adjourned to January 28 for a bail application.

Are these statements true, backed up by the hospital? Or did she make the whole thing up?
