I just think the focus on LGBTQI is over the top and too much time is spent on it , i'm all for diversity and inclusiveness , but it's over the top , which allows those that don't agree more airtime .

Even after they guaranteed they wouldn't so as not to lose votes.Well well well. I'm sticking with my prediction that the Stage 3 tax cuts will be scrapped

I agree, I don't think we should schitte on any minority, but I think the disproportionate focus on some of the more obscure tributaries of the mighty river of humanity may prove counter-productive.I just think the focus on LGBTQI is over the top and too much time is spent on it , i'm all for diversity and inclusiveness , but it's over the top , which allows those that don't agree more airtime .
Same as that GWS girl that doesn't want to wear a pride jumper , it's her choice .I agree, I don't think we should schitte on any minority, but I think the disproportionate focus on some of the more obscure tributaries of the mighty river of humanity may prove counter-productive.
I always try to stay open to new perspectives on life but I can't deny I switch off from some of the more hair-splitting gender discussions.
It's who the tax cuts are going to. I'm on 6 figures, and I'd prefer my tax cut in Stage 3 go to lower income earners. I'm not yet at the stage where I can profit off our generous 'welfare for the rich' schemes around property investment (I only own the home I'm living in), but lower income earners can only dream of ever getting to that point, so I'm fine with them getting the relief instead.Who wants tax cuts anyway? Much prefer the government to have more money to blow.

Speaking from experience, a lot of corporate diversity and inclusion initiatives are almost a complete waste of time. Would much rather organisations do the hard work and create a culture where everyone's opinion is valued instead. A lot of workplace issues could be solved if managers would get up off their arses and go talk to their staff who are actually doing the work.

Also strange given the ballooning debt, for all the talk about fiscal responsibility from the previous government.
Maybe. I get why they agreed to it in the lead up to the election (though I'm sure they support the cut for lower end income anyway), but really, come next election cycle they're going to get hit with the same old Labor = high taxes shtick regardless of what they do, so why not just do things that make the most sense.I think they will cut the 32.5% tax rate to 30% for people earning between $45k-$120k. Not sure if they will go ahead with the tax cuts for people earning more than $120k though, given what you've said above.
I said in the SRP thread, individual tax rates mean * all.
If you want to fix tax rates, make Exxon et al actually pay some tax.
Oh absolutely agree, I was saying what I think will happen, not what I think should happen
Just frustrating to read people go on about Joe Bloggs paying $6000 in tax instead of $9000 and I'm like it doesn't ******* matter what Joe bloggs pays in tax!!!!
Name your top 5 companies that aren't paying tax, and talk about the impact of them pulling out of Australia...Just frustrating to read people go on about Joe Bloggs paying $6000 in tax instead of $9000 and I'm like it doesn't ******* matter what Joe bloggs pays in tax!!!!

This is not to doubt you, I agree... but I'm under-educated in this area, and this is the excuse I generally hear.
So this gives you an opportunity to vent, and an opportunity to educate me! Should be irresistible!

As for the impact, I'm certain given most of these are mining and real estate, they can't really go anywhere else.
Problem is that, as a leader, he is signalling that it's ok to discriminate against people he doesn't agree with. And he's giving license to some Victorians to hate and vilify others.
OMG we really are being played like a cheap fiddle.

WHAT?? AND STIFLE ENTERPRISE??!!Yup. but let's talk about welfare cheats, dole bludgers, pensioners, and tax cuts for high earners.
If you taxed companies like those their real amounts, you'd be able to lower the personal / individual tax rate considerably, and you know.. lift people out of poverty.
