Hampton park in a lot of trouble, coach quit and left it to late to apply to join southern, lost some of their better players and can't recruit even though they have money in the bank.i believe their best player is going to narre $$$ ,seriously what hope have they got when powerhouse clubs cherry pick their best players could at least splash the cash to players from strong clubs or outside the league instead of clubs already on their knees like hp.

Need to get a divisional comp going or a major shake up or the south east/peninsula area for bottom clubs to remain viable.

It's always been a pretty interesting competition. I followed it very closely in 2010 and 2011 and have kept an eye on it the past few years. Unfortunately, they have a two-tiered league. Generally speaking, Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Pakenham, Berwick and Beaconsfield have larger populations to draw on, which means a larger pool of juniors who then become senior players. They are well resourced with plenty of supporters and sponsors. Then you have Hampton Park, ROC, Doveton and Tooradin who just struggle year after year, unless they spend a lot of cash. The league has already lost two clubs in the past few years.

The top five clubs probably need to move into a new league, maybe the Eastern FL or start a new league with the strongest clubs from the Ellinbank or Yarra Valley, but then you're potentially ruining two or three leagues to make that happen. From memory, they had a premier division of the MPNFL, but that failed because of the travel involved.

It's a massive problem and the divide is only getting greater. The whole area probably needs a restructure. No one wants to play in or watch 100-point floggings every week and that will continue to happen until they create an even league.

Tooradin and roc could be a perfect fit for the new west Gippsland comp, Hampton park would suit southern league but have no idea where the top teams would be suited to play if a proper "2 tier" comp didn't get up

I'm trying to find some copies or scanned copies of old South West Gippsland FL Records. Seeing as though some former SWGFL clubs are now in the SEFNL, I thought that this would be a good place to start. If someone can help me who has kept some since 1994, please PM me.

The opportunity to have a huge impact on the famous colours of the Hampton Park Football Club has arrived, with the club desperate to sign players ahead of the 2017 South East Football Netball League season.
The Redbacks have a new executive committee, they have money, and a new coaching panel ready to pass on a wealth of knowledge and experience to a hard-working list of players.
They have loyal sponsors and supporters, and an atmosphere set to be enhanced by past-player reunions to commemorate 20, 50 and 60-year premiership celebrations.
Now – to complete the picture – they just need bums on seats in the change rooms!
The Redbacks have a positive outlook for the future, with their governing body – AFL South East – set to deliver divisional football in 2018.
This implementation will allow clubs like Hampton Park to find its watermark, to be competitive for the first time since its last finals appearance in 2011 and bring some much-needed vibrancy back to Robert Booth Reserve.
But first, they need to get there.
Make no mistake – this is a pivotal moment in the history of this great club that has built rivalries with foes like Beaconsfield, Berwick, Cranbourne and Narre Warren since the mid 1950s.
Off-field, the club is well managed, but winning just four of 84 games since a mass exodus of players crippled the club at the end of that 2011 season – well it’s finally taken its toll.
The club appeased its players in 2016 with a rumoured move to the divisional structure of the neighbouring Southern Football League.
It’s a move that never eventuated, with some club insiders and SEFNL keen to continue a long-lasting relationship.
Co-club president Mick O’Brien, a man who spilt blood, sweat and tears for the red and black, is one who is desperate to see it continue.
“All the hard work that we’ve done off-field over the last few years has put us in a really financial position, left us with a war-chest, but attracting the right player to the club has always been the hardest part,” O’Brien explained at training on Monday night.
“What’s happening on-field is not a true reflection of what’s happening off-field right now. We thought if we put the club in a financial position things would build from there but we probably underestimated just how hard it is to attract players when you’re not winning games of footy.
“We just need to get one, then two, three, four players, and start building a group that will fight through 2017 and then reap the benefits going forward.”
O’Brien and the club’s executive have changed their focus, looking to rebuild the club from the ground up, starting with its coaching department.
New head-coach Dean Warren is perfectly suited for the task, with a Level 3 coaching accreditation and previous success with VFL development squads.
O’Brien is confident that if the players commit, Warren and his staff can have a huge impact on their individual and team development.
“We just need players, guys who want to put their hearts on their sleeve and have a crack at senior football,” he said.
“We’re in a unique situation to provide that opportunity. We want to build with a group, put a younger side on the park and watch that group grow towards success. We want a nucleus that might go through some tough times now but will enjoy some success down the track.”
Co-president and football manager Tim Ziegler said the club was still waiting on a commitment from several of the 45 players that have hit the track in the pre-season.
“There are probably 10 to 12 that we are still in negotiations with, those that have been to training and are still deciding their futures,” Ziegler said.
“Obviously we’re trying to do everything we can to reassure the players, yes we know it will be tough, that this is the place to be going forward. We’re having talks with a few new blokes as well.”
Players wishing to discuss a possible future with the club can call O’Brien on 0411 420 155, Ziegler on 0412 814 842 or Warren on 0415 378 211.

Setanta O'Hailpin and his brother have signed with Tooradin.
Alwyn Davey looking to play with Doveton.
Clayton McCartney also signed with the Doves. Another Noble boy Taylor Joyce also attempting to return to SEFNL with Doveton. Scanlon trio returning home to Fox Road.

Setanta should dominate the comp if thats the case, is his brother any good?

Doveton apparently paying plenty of $$$ this season. Some good recruits. Heard Taylor Joyce found EFL a bit hard and ended up playing 2s at Noble.

Aisake is a 200+ cm ruckman and rated very highly in the Ovens & Murray League. Triple premiership player 2014-16 with Albury.

Aisake is a monster very good Ruckman/Forward runs like an onballer and has good hands. The money offered is unbelievable. Has a short fuse and is not far off 16 weeks suspension. Setanta is a gun. If he can stay fit and on the park he will kick plenty.

Wandered down to the Good Friday match last week. Big crowd, expected result. Joyce kicked 11 as Doveton were too good pretty much everywhere for Hampton Park. Robbo took a trademark hanger in the first qtr, about the redbacks only highlight.

Had a listen to both coaches, Aaron Davey a man of few words.

Davey x 2 playing?

Davey x 2 playing?

Neither, which was disappointing as they were one of the reasons we'd gone (would have anyway, nothing else to do!). Aaron coached only and Alwyn was apparantly up north.

First "upset" of the year last week with Beacy knocking off the Magpies at Kalora Park. Cranbourne pushed all day by TD, Officer beating the Lions after a slow start and Berwick thumping the Redbacks. Doveton had the bye.

A couple of interesting clashes this week, with the Doves hosting Cranbourne, which will tell us a lot about both sides, and the Seagulls hosting Narre Warren. TD would fancy their chances after last week's showing, whilst the Magpies would still be stinging after a loss at home.

Good to see Aisake lifting TD.
Really good to see The Redbacks fielding a team and being semi competitive.
Great whenever Narre lose.
