If the whole tigers group from this year stuck together how you think they will go next year in SFL?

Going by Saturdays grand final at KGV if it was the exact same Hobart team they would win it with a leg in the air. Imagine Charlie running around against that lot

If the whole Tiger group stuck together they would win the flag next year in the SFL. The main reason for this apart from the few real top quality players e.g. Charlesworth, Lemm is that Hobart are still a very young group and the improvement shown by the younger players (17 and 18 year olds notwithstanding the 4 mariners and 3 state under 16 players) in a year has been dramatic and with that further improvement going into another season would see another big jump in playing standard.

There would be blokes at Hobart who would struggle to get in for a game at Norfolk. Not sure I'd be that confident of them coming in and belting everyone in the SFL. Thompson, Gardam & Hall would tear their backlines to pieces IMO.

It's an irrelevant argument anyway, The Hobart side that gets fielded in the SFL will be nothing like the TSL team from this year.

You could be right JS#35 but I would think there would also be some players at New Norfolk (obviously not the ones you mentioned) who would struggle to get a game in Hobart’s best team from 2013. To be fair I haven’t seen a lot of New Norfolk over the last few years, but I suppose as a measure Claremont had 2 former Hobart players from 2012 play in their senior grand final side who IMO would struggle to have got a place in Hobart’s best senior side for 2013 but as Halftime hero pointed out it’s an irrelevant argument as Hobart in the SFL will look very different from this year’s side.

Fair enough, good point boys. So Cure, how do you think Hobart will go in the SFL next year? There is a board meeting about them joining on Wednesday I believe. Will many players stick around? Heard Charlesworth to Clarence and Lemm has retired. Other than that I'm not sure on who might be there in 2014. Bit early to tell I guess.

Did hear some handy names mentioned as possible recruits at ECB.

It’s very hard to tell at this stage who will remain at Hobart and who will go, apparently there were more players expressing interest in staying than first thought but I guess it’s just a wait and see. I think a few will also wait and see how the new Hobart City Club looks like, if it’s too much like the old North Hobart they won’t go, but from all reports it’s going to look quite different. I’m also not too sure whether there will be some alignment between Hobart and the new city club, whilst it might sound like a good idea New Norfolk as opposed to say a Lindisfarne have shown that a stand alone club is probably they way to go, rather than having your performances go up and down depending on which players drop back from the TSL . The other factors to take into consideration is that apparently there is a number of former players playing at SFL and Old Scholars level that have expressed interest in coming back but once again that’s a wait and see as well. As you pointed out JS#35 they haven’t even been accepted into the SFL yet. Lemm has retired but as he is on a 4 day on 4 day off roster in Devonport with the fire service and he might be able to sneak a few games in as I think he is a few off the 150. Charlesworth I have heard has been courted by pretty much every club.

Hopefully you blokes can field a decent senior and reserves sides next year:thumbsu: Steve Woods will do a good job.

Anyone know of coaching appointments or player movements? Sorell taking their sweet time choosing their coach. Benny_ are you still in the running to work in their canteen next year?

I heard that Claremont have signed David Hunt, Simon Spencer, Nathan Mathews, Tyler Bowden and one other guy from Glenorchy. Not sure how reliable the source is but that is the rumour.

Lauderdale have signed Ben Halton from Cygnet. Word is that Jamie Di Ennio has gone there too.

Also, which SFL player has been requested to nominate for the draft this year??

Sounds like they've been recruiting early again. Ricky Martin will probably be there as well.

Surprised Halton would leave Cygnet.North have tried to get him several times. Player asked to nominate could be Matt Young from Dodges. Tall basketballer, played as an overage player in their 18's and played a few senior games. It was reported a while back that Freo was interested in him.

Meh!!!

I'd rather keep it a "secret". Will protect the player if he isnt drafted!!

You are only new so maybe you don't understand the concept of bigfooty, but if you want to keep a secret, don't put it on here.

at least name a club for us to keep guessing

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion by not name him you are protecting him if he doesn't get drafted??? To get drafted you must nominate for the draft, once he has done this (drafted or not) his name appears on a list for everyone to see. So if he has been asked by a club to nominate, he can only then nominate hoping that he gets drafted. I hardly see how it's his fault if he doesn't as he is simply following a clubs instructions. But by not naming him, you are not protecting his identity as it will come out once he has lodged his paperwork.

No worries SK. Go check the list:thumbsu:

What was the point in posting it if you weren't going to tell? If it's not Young/Halton then it would most likely be that guy with dreadlocks from the Bunna. Him or one of the others who played in the Tassie U23 side.
