O'Byrne might need to put out another statement after Huonville are finished with Claremont. The Sorell defeat was much worse than most would have expected.

Surely that's close to the biggest winning margin in the competition's history?
Channel 60.36 (396) d. Lachlan 1.0 (6)

Not far off.

Wow, thanks for posting! Sorell of '96 were bad but geez, Claremont of '21 were all time terrible.

Lachlan were way worse, Sorell ended up winning four games that year.
Lauderdale were the next highest with six wins but lost ten games by over 100 points and finished sixth, five games out of the five.
Claremont '21 lost almost their entire playing list from two years previous and were battling for players, as did Hobart '14 when they left the TSL and re-entered the SFL.
Of the current members of the SFL, I believe Dodges Ferry are the only team not to have suffered a defeat of greater than 200 points during their stint in the competition.
(Ed's note: New Norfolk got done by 229 points at Huonville last year)
There's traditionally always been a great disparity between teams in the competition, something that's held the SFL back from being a much higher profile and popular competition.

Saturday's games were the closest margins for the season with every game pretty low scoring in the bitter cold and dark.

Hobart finally notched up a win after two years beating Claremont. I headed up for a look at this one more out of curiousity than anything.
Hobart surprised me how strongly they burst out of the blocks in the first quarter, 7 goals up and shouldda been 12 up at quarter time.
After that the quality of footy was pretty terrible by both teams but Claremont slowly got back into the game with Hobart only kicking away in the last ten mins to win by 8 goals.
Reality is both clubs are in deep, deep trouble and you wonder how long they can keep going for. Hobart's reserves team looked to be full of super rules players.

Lindisfarne's win over Huonville was a big surprise, I never tipped that one.
Blues have lost a fair bit of talent since last year but still looking on track to go deep into the finals, Huonville not as far ahead of the pack as they thought they were.

Brighton have improved a lot in recent times but still show they are nowhere near good enough to beat the best teams.
Cygnet won by 5 goals at the Ponty.
Both will play finals but can't see the Robins going all that far - then they've got a whole world of pain in front of them next year when they join the new Premier League comp.

Sorell took forever to overrun NN out at Boyer to win by 30 odd points after trailing at half time. Reckon Sorell would be a bit disappointed in that effort but 4 points is 4 points. It'll be them and Brighton in the eliminational final later in the year.
New Norfolk are improving but still a long way to go.

Huonville must have a truckload of injuries for them to go down to New Norfolk down at Huonville today, that puts them right back in the pack now.
Claremont managed to kick 7.1 against the top side Lindisfarne but still went down by 170 odd points, the Farne kicking 31.30!
Brighton beat a struggling Dodges by 7 goals at Dodges and Cygnet smashed the poor old Tigers by 230 to 1 at Slab Road.
Even though the Pies got beat by Hobart a fortnight back, I still get a feeling Hobart are in the more serious situation of the two.
I hate to say it but we really could be seeing the end of Hobart as a club if things don't improve in the near future. I hope I'm wrong.

I watched the robins in the second half against sorell and they looked good. maybe the youngest team in the comp this year and they are third on the ladder. will be a force next year if they do stick together under pk and they have improved by a mile on last year.

Heard a NN player got booked and sent off for racial vilification at the TCA today.
Not the first time he's done it either apparently, did the same to Boscott from Cygnet a few years back.
my son was at this game and he said there was a fight at 1/2 time and players sent off in a spiteful match where nn crushed hobart.

Playing against a whole different quality of opposition next year, so a bit early to say they will be a force.

Initially they will be flogged by 100 points every week.

Their challenge will be to keep their players. Those same players who have left TSL clubs for a reason.

That and to keep their juniors at the club.

Agree.
I see them having the same problems as Premier League 1.0

Plus, they are still total and utter pricks to deal with. Pissing off every other club in Southern Tas, is never a smart strategy.

Hearing it’s Bearman … again

Any truth to the rumor also that a certain SFL club owes the league a substantial amount of money?

Always have been & always will be pretenders.
Got shiny new rooms and try to tell everyone they're 'contendors' now. Bunch of dreamers.
