Southern Footy Show

I have heard from a reliable source that the League have canned the Southern footy show for next year and beyond. Apparently their blaming AFL Victoria for putting pressure on them to stop it or something along those lines. What do people think? Personally I think it is about the only thing that seperates our league from others. Have heard that the footy show team are not happy!

Honestly it's not that good, all it highlights is how far behind other Leagues(standard wise) the SFL are.Dingley!!!!!!!!!!! coming in, couldn't win a game where they were. Noble Park and Balwyn, had no competition.

Benny was a pretty ordinary umpire and he is a pretty ordinary panellist, I feel for Daryl though as he bleeds SFL and is a decent fellow

You must all understand that the old silver haired 80's relicks that run the competition do not read any of what you have posted here. Most of them leave the computer to their teenage daughters and feel that they do not have to understand them, let alone the forums that discuss what goes on in their competitions within their daughter's computers.

I take offence at that House. After all, I am a 60's/70's silver haired relic.......plus, I'm computer literate.

But I prefer watching the Southern Footy Show on the telly. Have seen some streaming content elsewhere and wouldn't bother again.

Local Footy Media,

Anything further regarding the Southern Footy Show getting back on next year from the powers to be.

Was a fantastic show last Saturday. Just shows the variety you guys bring the audience (flash backs). Had forgotten that you had an Eastern FL segment some years ago after their show had gone by the way.

Terrific show well done.

Agreed I also thought it was one of the best SFL shows I've seen. That being said, LFM if you are going to get on free to air TV in boxers again, don't tuck your shirt in mate!! I did p*ss myself laughing at that though!!:D

In response to the elitest Div 1 person. I've seen some horrible Div 1 game highlights on the show. Just as i've seen some horrible Div 2 & 3 games. I've also seen some horrible Friday night AFL games when i've just about turned of at half time. Fortunatley for channel 7, they have the budget for multiple cameras at the game, the ability to throw to a boundary rider, play a pre-recorded story etc, etc, etc, to keep our attention.

I'd also like to add my voice of support to the Footy Show continuing.

The SFL guys do a great job with the budget they have to work within.
The quirkiness of the SFL panel, while sometimes of putting, is something we should certainly try to hold onto.

Maybe, if the show returns, Daryl and the boys will take on some of the constructive criticism and endeavour to change\improve the show.

For what its worth, i thought the segment of a couple of yrs ago when we got scores & tid bits from the other suburban leagues was great.

Maybe the show could also highlight a special person of the week. eg. the canteen lady who has worked tirelessly for yrs without much recognition.

What about a Thursday night segment where we get to see how a different club each week trains and prepare for selection. Maybe even peek in to see where the coaches are picking the sides.

Good luck Daryl, Benny & LFM with the task ahead.
CaulfieldBearsTV, you were more than just a battling back pocket player to me - You were a great runner.

SFL AGM on Monday nite. Any updates on whats happenin with the show. Heard many clubs getting togethor beforehand to show their support for the show continuing. Anyone heard anything.

Club survival is more important, sponsors are dropping off like flies from 2 clubs either side of ours and we will be next. Spend the money on proping up clubs until the economy gets better.

Yeah agree that the clubs need to be assisted a bit more by the sfl in these times rather than just holding their hands out for un reasonable things, but it would still be good to try and keep the show as well. i think most clubs will notice a significant change over the next few years as far as sponsors go coz good one's are as rare as rocking horse poo..:D:D:thumbsu:

I think the footy show is very ordinary. If they where serious they would study the players names at least instead of calling the same 2 or 3 players espically in div 2 and 3. Do your homework thats why you are still on ch31. As for Benny backchat id rather watch my brother fart on my sisters head:p. Everyone he interviews doesnt like football or is some pissed dyke down at acland street. I do feel for Daryl he is a good bloke. As for that other monkey that needs so desperate advance hair treatment looks like hutchy abit please mate do us all a favour retire gracefully. Anyway thats my rant. Put the money back into the clubs so we can strengthen this comp as much as possible:thumbsu:.

Southern Football League website now has a forum section as well. Are they trying to take people away from Big Footy to gain more popularity with their own website??

Hey PDog, i noticed it this week, not sure if the purpose is to generate discussion about the SFL or as a tool to communicate/ask questions of the SFL Admins and Board. Found it kinda strange though that to start with only Mods could start a thread and only changed it when questioned.

Sour grapes benny, pity the poor clubs that have been asked to fork out money to have their game covered. Value for money our club does not think so nor do many many others.

No not sour grapes at all, however there is only so much will fit into a show. We will be covering Dingley vs Mordialloc this Saturday and the Cheltenham ANZAC Tribute game on Sunday for next weeks show.

It's not the Southern Footy Show any longer and therefore we need to spread ourselves far and wide.

Hey Dave, how about worrying about getting what your paid to do right rather than digging up old bones on here?

Have to agree we have moved on from last year and are keen as mustard for this season. Rye VS Sorrento next week will be a cracker. The support from sponsors has been phenomonal. Dave when you say my President are you talking about Sth Yarra or the League President?? Did I hear right on 88.3FM, SFL website 450,000 hits a month, that is truly amazing!!!!

What about the South Yarra President?

Does anyone know whats going on with the radio broadcast on Sat afternoon. I couldn't get to the game so was hoping to hear an around the ground score from Dingley but all that was on was music? Are they having broadcasting or not?

I am not associated with a second division club in any respect I am a committee person at a club but if you guys have any influence in employment in footy that would be impressive. Maybe you media guys could get your facts right it has not been a good week for the old media team re: East Brighton...
