Are Sen putting 50% of their budget into the one program next year? Seems like it. I've gone off commercial radio during mornings the last couple of years. It's at least 50% advertising or news and weather. Jjj or abc for me in the morning.

SEN have bugger this up. The money they have given Gary Lyon and Rompingwins, they should have thrown at Harf and gave him the breakfast show with Watson.

I don't think there's much doubt that Garry Lyon will lead to increased ratings in the first couple of weeks of the show. The test will be whether they can hold on to them.

Throwing money at someone who already works at the station and wouldn't bring in any non-SEN listeners isn't how media or business works. And you have to remember that people who post on BF are a hardcore section of the footy audience, and are prone to group think as well. We don't represent the majority of their (potential) audience.

I have never read this thread on bigfooty before so no idea what the groupthink here is. Just came in to air my dissapointment.

Judging by the response of the average listeners on their Facebook page, it looks like they will lose as many loyal listeners as new ones they will gain.

I think people overstate their outrage in the short term though. Radio stations struggle, but also thrive because people are creatures of habit - especially when it comes to radio. I wonder how many people actively flick through channels when they're listening in their car? I doubt it'd be many. It's why no one complains how hard car radios are to set presets!

Have you seen who the hosts are? It's going to be hilarious (in a cringeworthy sort of way) to hear them having to discuss other sports.

I think the show will still be pretty good come October/early November - McLaughlin, and Lyon to an extend seem to know their stuff when it comes to racing. I'm sure they will have an opinion on cricket like every person who listens to SEN would.

I haven't heard it being promoted as an AFL show (though I tend to tune out when that Garry Lyon promo comes on, and I haven't been listening for a few days) - but I'd be surprised if that's how it turns out.

With all due respect to Harf, I would much rather listen to what Gary Lyon says in regards to football topics.

Saw Hame crossing the road as I was driving to work this morning. This was at 7:30 and he looked pretty dishevelled - might need some early rising practice over the next few weeks.

he was interviewed last week and mentioned he doesnt get how the incumbents do it (early rise)

Mooney talking about non footy matters is good. Speaking about coaches under pressure he said he's ALWAYS said judge coaches after six rounds. During this season he said wait till half way mark to judge.

Moons has been great this week. When you compare him to Ox he's miles ahead of him, especially when he talks about sports other than AFL and golf.

Mooney and Ox are pretty much the same person on the station, or fill the same role as personalities. Except Moons is a much, much better presence.

Highlights for me this week?

Talking about Liam Picken being a defensive tagger when starting out, and recalling how many knees he gave him when tagging Ablett.

As a young player at North. Giving Scott West a shoulder in passing and saying "Who are you?"

Lol. He's a flog. But in a good way. I think he takes pot shots at him pretty well on the sms. Miles ahead of Ox.
